The game looks fun, and some of the graphics in the still shots look amazing.
The info online doesn't really tell you anything about the game play. I'm guessing it will be mission based and kind of an ancient first person shooter. You advance with an army you don't control....
So you just get to fight. That could be fun but being a fighting hero leading an army in a strat game would be awesome.
Anybody else get a different impression?

As I stated from the Spartan:TW threads in the Console area:
Here is what I gather from the video. I watched it over and over, pausing and playing, pausing and playing until I observed what I wanted to.
The first bit is obviously the opening video. Some evil roamn-type bad guy invokes the help of evil gods ot take over the world or the area or something. He seiges and starts to take over some little city that is powerless against his evil forces.
You play one of four characters:
*The stereotypically quick flexible weak powered chick.
*Some long haired dude who runs around with his shirt off until he finally gets armour. Maybe a gladiator or a young troop in training, who knows.
*The spartan dude with gold armor. Sometimes he has a sword, sometimes a spear.
*Someother long haired guy who looks very much like the other one, only poorer. Maybe an escaped slave or something
Armor and weapons are upgradable as the game progresses. Unknown whether you permanently upgrade or if you can "cycle" through your weapons.
This will be a "lets fight through large armies until we get to the level boss" type of game.
It will have no replay value at all and thus will sit in your collection of games until you sell it to a used game store to buy a newer game.
Looks like it might be "rentable" at best. Only people who love the franchise for the franchise and not for the quality of gameplay will get enthusiastic. And maybe some kids.
Oh well. I'll stay tuned, but my curiousity is satisfied. And I am not impressed and I have no further interest in this run-of-the-mill 3rd person adventure game.
That said, I wish CA every bit of success and I hope they make a boatload of money to pour into future Total War STRATEGY games.
Regards

Ok, Personally it looked great. I love 'hack and slash'. So if you can 'hack and slash' in sort of RTW it's good. But you gotta love 'hack and slash'.
But face it. you don't play a soccer game if you don't like it.
Looks like the kinda game i get bored of quickly. A combination of the EA LOTR games and prince of persia gameplay.
Not my cup of tea. As long as they stay dedicated to TW good luck to them.
Now a TW GTA hybrid... Becoming the nastiest Raptore in Rome- thats more my thing ~;)
did I just see someone with a flamethrower in there? for a sec thought they spliced a different game into the footage.
Hell yes, looks like a kind of Dynasty Warriors made prettier and cool.
And for GOD sake stop bitching about "oh noez, teh Totel War is riuned!", they have an entirely different team inside CA working on it, and the trailer even SHOWS that it's under a new 'Total Warrior' brand!
It's not Total War! Stop bloody coming at it like it is!

ok, well THAT was different! i was thinking yeah ok, kinda like age of mythology, could be playable, until the FLAMETHROWER ~ i mean, WTF!!!
If you like hack and slash, it has plenty of replay value. If you don't like hack and slash then obviously you only play to win and then you don't want to play the game again. Some people (Like me for instance) actually enjoy the combat for it's own sake.
I play Dynasty Warriors over and over again. If it were done like Dynasty Warriors 4: Empires, I'd be all over it. That's probably too much to hope for though...
Aside from the fact that I know I won't be touching this (or any other console game)
They should probably remove the LoTR Uruk Hai fullas...
The flamethrower kinda makes sense... They're going for the full-on mythological interpretation of ancient greece... I'm thinking it's meant to be the fabled greek fire.
