Has anyone ever seen a widow remarry in RTW? I've got one with 2 young children and was just wondering.

No, widows do not remarry. They just stay there, a little decoration on the family tree.

it hasn't happened to me either..
what i dont get is why nobles can't have many wives, pharohs always had many wives... (i think, don't qoute me on that)
At least for Romans being married to more wives then one would be a major no-no, and more general most european peoples of the age didn't have multiple wives...

i supose they might have... what religion was italy in ancient times? ~ ~;) ~D
Pagan, of course. Still, that doesn't mean a thing. The Roman laws and value system (my apologies for any Dutch people out there who think i'm talking like JP Balkenende) wouldn't allow such thing to (legally) happen

Hello? This is RTW you're talking about. It is a simplified game. Allowing widows to remarry or having multiple wives would complicate the gloriously simple family tree and at the risk of confusing half a dozen simpletons playing the game, was therefore never an option. Maybe in the next installment of the series then.
Many widows in Roman times did stay unmarried. If their sons were to young, and their fathers dead, they could have more power then they could if they were married.
Remarriage did happen though.

If we really want to be realistic, Ptolemaic (Egyptian) rulers should be able to marry their sisters. Then we'd be able to use those nifty hidden Inbred traits.

Many rulers had harems of women for "enjoyment" the actual wife was more about getting ahead in society or making a political alliance.
Cultures with many wives may end up having far more princes than other cultures and could imbalance the game. In addition to not being functional with the family tree.
Also what if a daughter in law wanted to remarry? Obviously that would not be allowed...It would open up some interesting internal politics. and civil wars.
