Well, to continue the momentum our cheerleader Drisos has developed, I'll ask y'all a question.
I've been trying to find someone who has played the tabletop RPG "Sengoku" by GoldRush Games, or GURPS Japan. I really want to start a tabletop RPG in the Sengoku-Jidai period (although it'll probably be online through a MUX server since my apartment is really tiny). I've narrowed it down to either GURPS Japan or Sengoku.
On the one hand, GURPS is universal, with a huge line of compatible games and settings. On the other hand, GURPS seems to be more complicated of a system than I want to screw around with... and it's a bit more expensive.
On the other hand, Sengoku is solely focussed on the period, with a handful of expansions just for this time period. I've never even seen their system, though, nor do I know anyone who has. But the upside is that I could buy the main book and 2 expansions in e-book format for half the price of GURPS + GURPS Japan... then print them out and put them in a big 3 inch D-ring binder, which is the handiest format I've ever had. But then, it might not be worth it.
You guys probably know I'm a cheapskate already. ~;) Can any of you help me out with firsthand experience in either of these games?
