is it possible tp mod the phalanx spearmen into swordmen. For example moding the spartans to have a sword for their primary weapon

The SPQR mod had done this: they have a new unit called 'sword hoplites' which are simply hoplites without the spears. Perhaps you should go ask lt0924760925.

I think the spartans should be normal spearmen with sword as secondary weapon, good against infantry and cavalry. :duel:

I would be very happy if someone fancied make some.

If you want to do that, just go into your export_descr_unit and remove the 'phalanx' ability from the formation line. The Spartans should then appear as normal spearmen with a secondary sword weapon (though I don't know when they'd use it).

Exellent, but would that change to spear or would they still have pike?
