Attack or Defend?

Which one do people like to do?
Personally I prefer defence coz its easier, and I don't have to be creative. Although I think eventually as I get better Attack will be more fun, exactly for those reasons.

Just starting to play on line and the best thing is watching how people play these different roles. I played attack the other day and thought I was being dead cunning hiding my CA behind a hill and then marching them thru trees in an effort to get them in a flanking position undetected.
Unfortuatly I failed completely (in the heat of the moment as my planned frontal distraction assault, went in) to spot the HC on the hill above my CA (stupid!!!!)
Bloody clever move I thought, but I guess it comes thru experience.

Anyway what do people like most?

depends on the map really some maps i like to def others i like to attack I really like attacking yamato i think it is normally i will host a game and attack then the next game defend and so on a so forth I do not like attacking on totomi and i love attacking when somone is hosting one of those Giant hill maps that are soooo hard to defeat because when i kick there ass off that hill I am nothing but smiles (of corse most will for some reson they just get dissconnected just as the last of there men are being killed hmmm i wonder why that is ohh well anyway i still loved putting a damnper on there day http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

The attacker conrols the game. I like to control the game.

I like defending. Especially when I watch my enemies get tired running up at me while my troops just sit there and waiting to have some fun slaughtering them. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

I just like running around too much to sit still. Defenders often wait and react to the attacker, which limits their options. Even is set as "defender," I'll usually move out and try to rout the enemies off the field. Defending is much easier, and in SP I usually try to lure the enemy into attacking me, but against other humans, I like to keep moving. Attacker for me!

And I agree with ShadowKill: Yamato rocks! lots of rolling hills and clusters of trees - there's no Defending Spot to sit on, and there's changing terrain everywhere! Great for a free-for-all!

Why play like a defender even if you are designated as defender? Move around a bit, don't just wait for the enemy to come to you.

I maintain that the distinction between attacker and defender is unecessary online. It serves only to indicate who gets to choose the weather (it always seems to rain for me) and who gets the victory condition advantage.

Well the easier maps to attack is 1v1 in Totomi and 2v2 in Nagashima.

Mostly attack.Because thats the quickest way to get a game.
Plus it does feel better to win as attacker.
My advice to attackers .Better to attack in 2v2 games ,or higher.But its important to work with your allie.

They say the defender has the advantage as the attacker must come to you. In this era there's really no easy way to attack a large enemy up hill or across a river with 1 bridge without great loss of life. Ah but Ashigaru dare complain.

Does not really matter, attack or defend they are both fun and easy depending on who u are!
