Is there any mod out there that has succeeded in enhancing the AI? To what extent? (So far I have played only patched vanllia versions of the game.)

Thank you for your time and answers!

Well, I don't know any. . . :embarassed: I only know the Samurai Wars mod for MTW and the SJ mod for RTW. But no STW mods.

First reaction to your question, I guess others don't know any too.

You can try MP in case you think the AI is as stupid as it is. that is a true challenge. ~:)

You could try playing one of the clans based in the centre of Japan in my ShogunAmagiv1.7 mod available here:3ddownloads (http://www.3ddownloads.com/strategy-gaming/totalwar/STW_WE/spc)

Only the 1.3 version is on the main site, and this newer one is an improvement. The AI builds and invasion strategies are altered, and you might find the game harder.

enhancing the AI?

if you mean maiking the AI smarter in battles then i dont think so,

but there are some challenging campaigns out there,
Amagi's 1.7 for one,
and in my Barocca's Campaigns pack, try Iron Man Campaign on Very Hard - if you want a tough time of it!

Cheers,
B.

The new Shogun Hiryu version of my campaigns has a revised Mongol invasion, with the defence of Kyushu and Japan's western coasts left to vassal clans ( to allow the Mongols the chance to conquer territory and finance more fleets ). Since the Mongols don't need buildings and their strategy is a series of large coastal landings, the AI problems are minimised.
