View Full Version : Why are you still posting in the Colosseum?

Just curious...
Edit: pardon the poor grammar :stwshame:
Edit2: The first option is perhaps a bit too enthusiastic. As long as you play the game and have fun playing it and just wish to post in the Colosseum to discuss tactics, best units, ect. then please vote 1.

Well i think this game is great. The main problem is that there are a lot of lacks.
But I think it's like management. Saying: HEY SOMETHING went wrong, so your management SUCKS'. Is SOOOO Easy. The hardest criticasters are absolute impotent to make an decent alternative.
IMO you see the same with this game. Except that you see here really decent (micro) alternatives.
For the record I love the game, warts and all.
I've tried to go back to MTW a few times since bying the game but just end up missing what Rome has.
As well as that, it's nice to see what other people think and learn abou their experiences.

I love RTW too. But I dont have any other TWs so I can't abandon it for something "better". I don't care if people say it has so many bugs, and is a pain to play, I love the game! ~ ~D

Indeed, what is the alternative. Civ 3? Galactic Civilizations? Warcraft? Please...
The fact that there are 3 TV shows around the world who use the TW engine to provide entertainment to their audiences should say enough: Rome Total War is a beautiful game.
Sure, it's pacing is not like MTW. Sure the AI has a hard time.
But newbies like my friends dont even notice this, and rate it as a top game. Besides the occasional 'lets all go for the river' order, of course...

I do not the current state of R:TW, but I cannot abandon it yet, I hope that my posts will influence CA, and I want others to avoid the mistake of buying R:TW.

I hesitated between "I do not the current state of R:TW, but I cannot abandon it yet." and the enthousiastic first option...
As this game gave me enough hours of (mindless?) fun since I purchased it in October, I just choose the first option.
But the game can ALWAYS be improved. In many ways.

I don't like the current state of RTW but i can't abandon it yet because it is a nice entertaining timefiller for whenever there is nothing on TV, or the servers are down on my other games.

What about a "It's ok, but it's better than nothing" option?

I like playing the campaign game. I see the problems with Rome and continue to play the other TW games because of this. I am also modding RTW and want to understand it more fully and be around if someone figures something out. It is generally fun despite the problems, but they should be fixed and the AI needs to be focused obn for future games.
Mine is a mix of Choice 1 and 3 as well, but it is more closer to 1.
I agree with sunsmountain as well. There is no true alternative to the TW series just yet. All the more reason for CA to keep innovating to keep ahead of the curve (or else the competition will catch up to them in no time).

OOF!!!, that was harsh, i would say in essence the game is great, but the ai sucks, & CA customer care sucks, i run a self employed buisness, & if i treated my customers like CA, id be out fo work, but that aside, with these 2 things fixed, rome would be, :jumping:

exactly my thoughts
my only real problem with rome is that Egypt is massively overpowered and their units are cheap as chips, a bit of a bugger for multiplayer as im getting sick of playing against egyptian desert cav spammers

Well personally, I thought the game was alright at the start,
then I played it.
However, something has to be said about the work that has been done by modders and the community as a whole to enhance to the game to at least somewhat of the godly software we anticipated.
