Because more of the 'hardcore' players come here and not just the GEN and MEDI forums....I will take this chance to say that..I have a worry about the MTW game already....if you do take time to visit MTW forum you will find that whenever a criticism is posted some 'expert' pops up with a counter claim.

They are no doubt aiming to blow the roof of with sales and not just awards...but to be honest from what was seen in demo...it doesnt look like out on line will get that much better.....since they have (or so they say) seem to move towards more depth in SP tactical map issues.

I may be wrong but I doubt that we will see siege machines/castle sieges on line..as for unit changes....they dont seem that different..just new names.archers called english/french/german etc...all bloody arches if you ask me..well at first glance....and god only know how the balance will create havoc if the 100 odd unit they claim to have are any different.

So be aware....MTW may well be the best SP game around but on line ....is another matter.

You can flame but it makes no difference...this is just a passing thought and my own.

Yeah i agree with most of that from what i've seen/heard, although i don't want to pass judgement before i've played it.

In such strategic games as Totalwar there will always be a much larger market in regards to single player compared to more 'arcadey' type games where the emphasis is more towards multiplayer nowadays. So multiplay is seen as a bonus whereas single play is meant to justify the purchase.

I'm still interested to find out more about how online play will work, in regards to chat and if they have multiple rooms or just the one.

Peeps are always gonna be disappointed, because everyone gets their hopes up to a level that cant be satisfied. I remember posting an early review of MI that only gave it a score in the 80's% and I got flamed... but did MI turn out to be the all singing and dancing game that some peeps hoped it'd be?

I reckon MTW will be a great game, and I understand that the on line area will be greatly enhanced, but at the end of the day - how much of an improvement will there really be?

goto MTW forum and see that we have a possible link to the outside world...this writer bloke may well be what we need to gain a little notice about the pains of MP Total War..

IMPOSTERS thread....

This fellas reviews games on the net and has ask for our thoughts about MP.

I asked for Magyar/Tosa/Yuuki to give evidence for our case....hope this is ok.

I reckon its more "balanced" in the sense that with 100 units, its harder to exploit and find an "unbalanced" army like the wm rush army of old shoggy. Too many possible combinations, no? Just a tot..

Monsta,

All the important issues were identified in WE/MI with suggested solutions made in writting to CA/DT many months ago. We'll just have to wait and see how many of these things made it into MTW. An important thing to do will be to evaluate MTW online play quickly and objectively after its release and get any further suggestions off to CA/DT promptly before they move on to the next project. There seem to be narrow windows of opportunity when suggestions are considered for inclusion. If things follow true to form, we'll see one or possibly two patches to MTW and that will be it. With longjohn back on board we should not see a repeat of the WE/MI v1.0, so I wouldn't be too worried. We can always fall back on using rules if the problem is only one of unit imbalance here and there.

As usual, Yuuki/Puzz3d is thinking clearly.

The brain-swap offer is still good, Yuuki.

How about it?

I understand your worries Monsta and I for one have had those fears myself. I was hoping that they would fix bugs and basically upgrade the multiplayer experience for the expansion of S:TW but was a bit dissappointed at that release as well. Although it seems like the creators are preoccupied with sales more than anything, and I guess they find that SP will generate more sales than MP, but I'm sure they would also like to make the MP as strong as possible. If we do come across a string of problems, whether it be bugs or balance, I believe the online community we have already established is qualified enough to report all things we would like changed, mainly agreeing with Yuuki's points here. We can again form a group and analyze the game as soon as possible, as we did for WE/MI, and hope that they will listen to our requests and make some of the changes we ask for, that is of course we find any faults and pretty much that is all we can ask for. On the flip side, M:TW, for all we know, could be perfect on release, fingers crossed. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
