View Full Version : Highest armour without extra fatigue in desert?

I am thinking of adding some armour to my HA/Turcoman H, but I want them to perform well in the desert. Is it safe to add +1 armour and end up with a total of 3 armour, or is 2 armour the 'best' fatigue-wise?
Of course the lower the armor the better, but I've found that an armor level of 4 works OK (sometimes I even use guys with 5 but they can't ever run, climb hills, or last a long time)

I think 4 is the limit mate, and don't forget to factor in the shield which also counts into the armour total I believe.
I used to have a piece of paper with the calculations of how much armour I could add to each unit on it before getting the penalty~D, wish I could find it again.
IIRC its 2 for infantry and 3 for cavalry. Anything above that and fatigue starts to get bad from being in desert. Shield does not add to the armor for fatigue calculation.
So your HA/Turcoman should be fine as they only have 2 from start.

You sure about that mate?, not just the shield thing but the 2 limit for infantry?
If its so then one is simply better off not armouring anyone you're sending to the desert. :embarassed:
Yes positive. I just made a few tests to confirm it.
Infantry with armour 1 and 2 gets same fatigue as desert does not effect them at all. Above that it just gets worse and worse. For cavalry its same for armour 2 and 3 (no cav has armour 1)
Shield does not have any effect at all.
It means you can give all the unarmoured infantry one armour upgrade. IIRC there are only a couple of inf units that has armour 2 (swiss halbs and swiss pikemen) so the rest cant get armour upgrades without getting problems in desert.

Thanks! This information was very useful!
It should be posted in the numerology thread at the .com or something...
