RTR screwede mercenaries up

what eles in gaul, this is going too far. RTR screwed the mercenary spawning pools. eles in gaul, camels in spain, scutarii on the steppes of sarmatia, cretan archers in syria. and more, it sucks

Are you sure you yourself didn't make any alterations perhaps to the descr_strat and continued playing with an "old" savegame? I've had the mercenaries get screwed all up by editing the descr_strat and replaying an old savegame. Somehow it corrupts the data and buggers up the mercenary spawning locations. At least I think it was the descr_strat that caused it, could have been another file aswell or several files that causes the mercenary corruptions in pre-modded savegames.

Either revert back to the old descr_strat or whichever file was modded or start a new campaign.

Anyways it could also be that you play a savegame of an older version and the newer version you have now causes the problem and you have altered nothing yourself.

Anyways try to start a new campaign and see if the problem is gone.

no it was a clean, RTR 5.4 started game, and it screwed but it wasn't the first time, it's everytime i play

I checked the descr_mercenaries file myself and everything seemed to be ok. Odd.

I don't have RTR5.4 installed, well I do, but not in a way that it can be played, it's just installed into an empty folder.

well that's my point, there's nothing wrong with the files. and when you start the game all's oke. but after a while it changes a few times, and i ended up with eles in gaul

i play RTR 5.4.1 and have no problem with mercenaries. i've never found any eles in gaul ~:)

I'm roughly 99% sure that you somehow screwed up the installation. My guess is you installed it in a not-clean rtw, perhaps already with mod previously installed in it. When i play it, it seems to be fine.

nope, it was a clean RTW install, but i did mod it myself afterwards but that was only units

THIS IS GOING TO FAR, i can hire triremes and biremes as mercenaries on land. i have bastarnae in spain bedouins in gaul and barbarian cavalry in the ******* dessert

Just get someone to send you the correct merc file... I don't have it installed, but thats the way to do it :wink:

it isn't the merc file that's corrupted everything is oke there. but the merc pools seem to switch every 50 years.

I've received one other complaint of this. Send me a messed up save at Simetrical at gmail.com, and I'll see if it's still a problem loaded on clean RTR. Or, better yet, if you can pin down an exact method that will always cause the bug, I may be able to figure it out. The first thing is to send me a save, though.
