Look guys, I know this is an off-topic forum, but I don't feel explicit spam threads are appropriate. There are far more constructive ways to increase your post count-As I said in the last post in that thread, you can just dredge up the one word story.

Anyway, this is Watchtower stuff, so that's where it's going.

Cos really if its genuine spam the thread will probably be removed any way,

Craterus, spamming there is fine with me. Subtle spamming is a bit risky, as the frontroom is also used by others who try to get a chat going about music for example.

I read the first post in that closed topic and I agree very much with the author: keep spamming in one topic. I'm not a Tavern regular, but constant (subtle) spamming, just for spamming, in other OT topics will finaly become an annoyance for others and cause tension.

I'm not sure how many dedicated spamming topics are running now, but there should just be one active to prevent other topics to roll off to page two.

I like a good debate but sometimes this means topics tend to stray, so i try to controll my self,

but what actual gain is there from spamming?

or do people just spam, To annoy people?
and if so then i dont see much use in having 1 thread for Spam, becous that would defy the whole purpouse of spamming.

Do whatever you like to do as long as it doesn't hurt/bother someone else.

Debate about politics, spam, have a chit chat about cows, your favourite color, game, book, hobby, the best discovery in the 20th century, crashing PC? Just do it in the right place.

Spam that remains in one topic shouldn't bother anyone (a one word story with swear words will have a very short expected lifetime here though). In the past we had issues with spam because the flatfile PERL forum couldn't really pull it off, crashed and was even completely shut down by the host.

One word story spam is something I dont see as spam,
Ive always thought of spam as, An uneducated Bunch of jibberish That people just Fill up page after page with Jut to Agrivarte people.

So i guess people are telling me that spam can be sencible sentances but have no relivance to any 1 els?

For instance

If i said.

I can fit 16 cow hides In to 1 suit case that would be spam ,

but

I could also state,

If you could walk on water, and you walked continuously around the earth on the equator East to west or west to east (not north to south)
That you woul Never see a solicstice Summer or winter, Becous your avarage walking speed would mean That you would be keeping up with the worlds rotation and there for the sun would always be in the same position

And this would also be spam Becous its irelivant data Even though thought provoking

As long as it's kept in one topic, people don't really have reason to get annoyed with it. One walks in, determines it's pure spam madness and leaves.

It's a different case when that happens in normal discussions.

Keep spam contained in one topic. I also don’t like they way Watchtower became a place to spam lately, this is highly unproductive. I would politely ask people to restrain from spamming this part of forum.

A good few discussions about forum administration discuss closing topics once it hits 10,000 replies. I haven't really noticed side effects yet, but closing the 11,016 replies one word story and continuing with (it in) the new one would have my vote.

The one word story is a fun way of spamming. There are also other games though, like word association.
