yup! saw the first tv trailer for the new movie tonight! oh... my.... God! fans are going to go nuts for this one. CGI meets Hitchhiker's Guide? yeah, it's pretty cool looking! now, i've no idea how closely they've stayed to the story, but the visuals are outstanding!

that's really all i've got for now. no url's, no links, nothing but that one trailer i saw on tv tonight, but it was enough to make me want more!

if you get a chance see it, or know of any links to viewable online trailers, post em here :)

Can't wait!
By the looks of it they have stuck pretty close to the book.

Here you go Krae: Hitchhiker's Guide official site (http://hitchhikers.movies.go.com/)

I have to wonder about some of the changes I noticed but I've seen no major "uh-oh's" just yet. Well, maybe one. In the characters section of the official website, there is what I think is a new character and he seems to be a "bad guy". If so, that may take the movie in a whole new direction.

As for minor stuff, Zaphod has two heads in the movie, but the second head is where our neck would be. I think there is a very quick glimpse in the trailer in what looks to be the Restaurant at the End of the Universe where Zaphod tilts his head back as if to look up and there is the second head under the first. No biggie since the fact that Zaphod has two heads doesn't play a factor in the books. The guy doing the voice of the Guide is perfect and almost sounds like the actor who did the voice for the BBC series. Alan Rickman is the perfect choice for the voice of Marvin, but the delivery of some of Marvin's lines seem rushed. Not that Rickman has to talk slow like Marvin did in the BBC series, but he misses pauses that would make the lines funnier. At least that is my initial impression. Maybe you will hear what I mean when you check out the official site. Marvin makes comments as you click different item on the web pages.

Edit: D'oh! Beaten to the punch!

Can't wait! Can't wait!

"Listen three-eyes, I get things weirder than you in my box of cereal in the morning..."

These wonderful books are genius. I hope the movie stays true to them.

thanks guys for the links :) i recommend using the quicktime version to view those trailers. the windows media one comes out smaller than it shld be, even when you pick the large size.

PBS showed the BBC version a while back, the whole thing, and it was fun, but this new movie looks like it's going to blow that one away. this one will definitely be going in my dvd library :)

Our local PBS station showed the BBC version last month and then the trailer for the new movie during a fundraising break. My son was home sick and he was interested in what he saw of the BBC show, so I told him more about the books. Next day he watched the whole BBC series I had on tape and then started reading the first book. I'm shocked, but he is enjoying it and can't wait for the movie to come out. The cheesy BBC version was a little taxing on him since he is growing up in the Star Wars/LotR special effects age.

Great! I can't wait for this movie. I'll have my towel ready for when I hitch-hike up to the cinema. Although, they couldn't have got someone better to play Arthur Dent thatn they had in the radio and TV serieses.

saw the preview for star wars and this at the theatre. the audience reacted positively to the star wars movie and then was just floored by the special effects for this right after. i had no intention of seeing this movie, not my kind of humor, until i saw the trailer.

Ford Prefect is a black American? He's supposed to be from Guildford...
Zaphod looks normal in the photo, he's supposed to have 2 heads and 3 arms... his heads won't be able to talk to each other now.

Surely it should be based mainly on the radio series? That came out first...

Great news. As my sig shows I'm a huge fan.

I feel a bit cheated about the two heads, but I guess I'll live...

Here's a screenshot from the trailer showing Zaphod's second head:

I wonder why they bothered with the second head at all. It will be interesting to see what role, if any, the second head will play in the movie.

In the radio series, they talked to each other...
