if i block a port with ships, the enemy ships can just leave the port without defeating my ship. this is annoying cause it also eliminates one of the reasons to block a port.

Didn't you know? That's a new feature. ~

I still play 1.1(hold you appl...your laughter until the end, folks) and the most unfair bug I noticed, which may be fixed in 1.2 is during blockade missions.

If you do the mission and then go for a ceasefire with trade rights, map information offered and demand map information, and either tribute or single payment the enemy will freak as if you have a nuclear-bio weapon aimed at their families. They'll offer up to 12 times what you asked for in return for not demanding their map information. I've actually helped the Scipii to take Carthage in this way by bankrupting their treasury.

"Oh, no Mr. Roman please ask for anything but my dear map information, I love them so much. Here take it, take it all, I don't need it."

Funny thing is after Carthage offered 12,000 over two turns A Numidian diplomat met with me to offer 500 over 12 turns for my map information. I almost considered refusing their offer, but since they were so nice about it...... I'll let them live---for now.

But eventually some factions will not go for it because of Alliances, too many declared wars, or they're broke.

I think it's part of the same 'feature' that allows retreating ships to move through ZOC (and thus your carefully crafted picket-line of ships).

On the plus side, it allows us to play pong back and forth across the Adriatic with retreating AI vessels.

i have a question. did anybody encounter the problem, where you get a senate mission to block a port, but when you arrive there you see its actually blockaded by another roman family. you can't block it anymore nor get a reward. is this a bug or was i simply not fast enough? :dizzy2: ~

Heheh...when you put it that way, you make it seem quite fun...

I suppose warships can slip out of the blockaded harbor at night and get away because the blockade isn't perfect and the blockading ships are not underway. Slower merchants would be more likely to get caught. I guess you could set up a string of ships with overlapping ZOC to stop the warships from escaping.

To combat the ping-pong effect, I place additional fleets away from the initial action which gives me a chance to make second and third intercepts on the same turn. Of course, there is a bit of guesswork involved in placing these reserve fleets. Even if i don't do that, it doesn't appear that the AI retrains it's ships so one of it's fleets eventually looses anyway.

it is still frigging annoying. i may not retrain but it does train. and in vast quantities. i had to creat a line of ships and when i fought and won they retreated behind the line.

You have to occupy every red circle to trap a ship. I've done that over 30 times and everysingle time the ship is sunk.

Yes can be annoying but usually your'e safe if you have 2 or more turns to complete the mission as the A.I. rarely blockades for more than 1 turn. The A.I. only seems to stay if there are no other fleets in sight.

I thought I read somewhere that the ships escaping a blockade isn't a bug as such, as ships can only escape from ports after one turn of being trapped? I could be halucinating though.
