How do I retrain navies?

Sorry, I imagine this is a dumb question, but I'm not sure how to do it. I've got ships that are seasoned vets but I keep loosing them in battles because they only have a few men left on them. I appreciate the help...

Sail them into a port and you can retrain them like any other unit. Just click on the retrain tab and they will appear in the retrainable unit list.

Same as with troops, only you need to put them into the appropriate port first.

Once they're in a cities port they will show up under the retraining tab. Any armour/weapon upgrades will be applied as approriate too. :)

"Appropriate port" as in, it has to be a port (there are 3 levels) that can build that type of ship in the first place. i.e., don't expect to retrain a trireme in a level-one port (dockyard?). Took me awhile to realize this.

Im pretty sure that is the case, but ive never actually checked for certain as I tend to under-use navies. I rarely bother building anything beyond triremes ~:)
