~ I was just playing a campaign game as the greeks. Any way as the enemy routed and my spartans gave chase there Pikes changed to spears. They stayed like this right to the end of the battle. This is such a weird bug. ~

That should be true because spartans used spears in real life.

Spartans use pikes? I've used spartans before, and in-game they always have spears, not pikes.

I mean the eastern spearmen type spears not hoplite spears

are you using a mod. and is it only when chasing. cause when you take of the phalanx formation the spears go up and stay like that until you put it back. when chasing units not in phalanx form. the spears go up and stay until they go in melee (not pursuing routers)

When hoplites are outside the battlefield (when routing or waiting to enter the battle) or on the walls they always have short spears. But i've never seen it on the battlefield.

I just wish that they could have Triarii type spears. I modded mine to have those, they looked sweet, fought well, but whenever you zoomed in when they were actually fighting, the game would crash, so that idea went out the door, even though it worked, aside of the game crashing.

than you have to change their texture and fighting style and delete their secundary weapon

They were near the routing are when this acured so this could explain it.

interesting. Has anyone ever noticed the hoplites hold their spears right at the end of the haft when this makes no sense in terms of leverage, load, effort etc? Hoplites always held their spears near the centre to provide for counterbalance.

It looks even weirder when the pike levies hold their sarissa at the very end. No balance whatsoever, I expect to see some spears topple over while they are marching.
