I have tried to have the AI manage my settlements from building construction to unit production and it always lagged behind when compared to the AI of the other factions. I was wondering if anyone else has had teh same experience, and is it even worth makng the AI control your building and unit production.

Managing all the settlement is the best. ( Right-click the settlement tab to bring up the list of cities. It has the "building" icon there so you don't have to jump from place to place because you know which cities are building).

When letting the AI manage, Have you used the spending slider at the faction tab? (Spend/Save).

I am a control freak and as such I always manage everything. I would suggest you do the same, the AI will lag behind. I played one campaign withm AI management on and I had a much harder time developing strong, consistent armies that matched my style.

I only personally control my frontline cities and capital, and let the AI handle the rest. Saves me time, and I still get to control things
