I thought that group commands were supposed to be fixed by the 1.2 patch. Well, they ain't.

I'm finding that there's frequently at least one unit in a group which won't follow orders. If you tell the group to run, one unit will walk. Or perhaps it will do just nothing at all.

Other times, you will tell a group to attack and one unit in the group will do nothing, while another unit that is NOT part of the group will join in the attack!

Also, I've had a lot of problems getting missile units in groups to behave properly. Sometimes they won't skirmish. Other times they won't fire. In fact, it's got so bad recently that I now take my missile cav out of the group mode when I get them into action, because they have just become too unreliable.

Other weird stuff keeps happening too, group or no group. Like when I ordered a unit to run at least half a dozen times in a row and the run button kept instantly changing back to walk! And no, I didn't have the game paused at the time, I know about that irritating little bug that causes units ordered to run to walk when you take the game off pause. Or when I ordered a unit three times in a row to fire and it just stood there, "idle"!

And then, have you noticed how when you take units off phalanx mode when the game is paused, sometimes they obey and sometimes they don't?

I mean, it goes on and on. Maybe they should rename the Command Panel the 'Suggestion' Panel - or maybe the 'Lucky Dip' Panel?

Yes, I always have to ungroup when I give a command, then group again. It's very frustrating in multiplayer, and 50 percent of the battles I've lost have been because of the bug. Of the other 50 percent, 40 percent have been because I was too lazy to ungroup and stuff and thus chose a lazy solution to a tactical problem and ended up losing because of it. In short: the bug makes multiplayer almost impossible to use too, as if the siege bug that ruins singleplayer wouldn't be enough...

What worries me is that this bug was well documented before 1.2, and yet it hasn't been fixed. At the same time, a bug like this *should* be fairly easy to track down.

The fact that it apparently isn't makes me wonder what sort of a mess the game's code in general might be in...

Yes very annoying. When you tell some Hoplites to attack some other hoplites and your general charges in and gets murdered

Or when you tell the men at the back of your battle line to turn around to face the cavalry who will flank them in thirty seconds, and they only begin to comply a minute and a half later - a minute after they've already been charged from behind and are now shaken...
