Dont bother telling me why you dont like a game you did not vote for.

Thanx

P.s

Please tell me which mod/version you play

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personaly I love shogun, I play the Warlord Edition (sengu jidai period??)

I love this game becous of the battles and the feel behind them,
I love the weather penalties, and also the time period,
The music creates a great atmosphear,
And I still play it To this day Even though i bought the origional shogun when it was new, "i scrached cd2 so i bought WE"

Also i like the campaign board, and even though im now sick of hearing The same reasons for accepting a aliance being spouted at me by emnisarys,

The throne room Is still a place i remember spending time in,.
The event animations are short but sweet.
and the whole game has a general feeling of class about it,

:)

RTW 1.2, RTR v5.4:1.

I´m a sucker for the ancient world so my choice is obvious. IMHO RTW gives the player overall most value when it comes to gaming. Shure, I miss feats from both STW and MTW but the overwhealming positive improvements with RTW are enough for me to cast my vote.

(Disn't play STW)RTW lacks some that were in MTW( such as emerging (esp Golden Horde) and re-emerging of factions and such as civil wars( I don't mean roman war which is inevitable)), but anyway there are lot's of new cool units( such as elephants which presence means new tactics in battles), more individual units and buildings for each faction and lots other stuff which changed tactics!
Esp. cool is more differnces between nations.
Bugs and not very clever(sometimes) AI is also present( :furious3: ), but in my opinion RTW is good anyway( ~:)).

RTW simply for craphic and campaign quility. If there was ever a revamped version of MTW i would get that and as for STW ive never really played it.

I really enjoyed my first two campaigns in RTW and the map / graphics are really good but afterwards I realized the AI wasn't challenging at all. After thought, I prefer MTW because I don't need to throw my units away on purpose to lose a battle.

RTW is the only one I've owned... and the only one I've ever had a real play on, therefore my vote is obvious.. (Once played some MTW, and i thought it was pretty good but nevger considered buying it.)

I agree. The AI is the single biggest reason why I voted for Medieval.

Don't get me wrong. I like all 3 games, and I still have all 3 installed on my computer. I continue to enjoy Shogun for its elegant simplicity and its incredibly immersive atmosphere. And yes, Rome's graphics and UI are vastly improved over both its predecessors, not to mention a terrific soundtrack (although the musical scores for all 3 games are excellent). And I don't deny that Medieval tends to bog down in micromanagement more so than the other two games.

For all that, however, I still play Medieval more often than Shogun and Rome combined. Part of it is that I've always found medieval Europe to be one of the more fascinating periods in history. There's also the game's replayability, which is greatly enhanced by having the largest number of factions, plus being able to play during 2 different periods. The fact that religion has an increased role in Medieval makes it more interesting as well, despite the added micromanagement it causes.

But as I said before, Medieval's AI is what seals it for me. Yes, Shogun's AI every bit as good (if not better) than Medieval's. Unfortunately, Shogun's AI is also somewhat nullified by Japan's physical geography--the narrow Home Islands are easy to conquer as they have many chokepoint areas where you can concentrate your forces in just a few provinces. I therefore wind up following the same conquest pattern almost every time I play Shogun, which does get a little old after a while. On the other hand, Medieval has much greater unit variety, and the AI is still very good at kicking my arse (unless I'm careful and/or lucky), even just on Normal/Hard. Britain and Europe's geography also means that the main Medieval map and the Viking map are much more difficult to conquer--there aren't nearly as many chokepoint provinces to be had.

In short, Medieval is not nearly as formulaic as Shogun; and its AI is still good enough to give me a decent challenge, unlike in Rome. I continue to play Shogun and Rome from time to time, but Medieval is still my meat and potatoes. ~

RTW will be, I can guess. At the moment I still enjoyed MTW more than RTW presently.

Medieval. I mod for it, and I'm a total sucker for the medieval period, though it doesnt have many of the features included in Rome that I would like.

Medieval for me too.

I played CaesarIII, so enjoyed the Roman aspect, but citybuilding was my draw there. I also have an interest in the Japanese period, but STW is older than MTW and I discovered MTW before I knew about STW.

(It will probably be too hard to get a copy of it again. BTW What is the difference, between STW+Mongol Invasion and STW:Warload Edition)

I never got beyond the tutorial in RTW as it kept crashing on me (Maybe fixed now if I apply the patch) and the graphic resources are really high (I had to drop from playing at Huge units to small, just to get it too play with some smoothness).

However, all that been said, I prefer the medieval period, since my AoEII days. I also have Stronghold and there is a new update to that Stronghold II (which I may look at).

I am planning to upgrade my graphics card in a few months, so I may revisit RTW and apply the patch(s) then.

In the meantime I will play MTW for the forseeable future. I even bought a second VI addon, (as required to play) in order to continue my enjoyment.

Ceaser 3 is a great game. I can never stop playing it.

I probably shouldnt vote in this poll becuase I have never played STW or MTW, but Rome with RTR is really fun. Except for that damn siege bug.

Though medieval I think had a more interesting background (most people I think can relate to the medieval period more than the ancient period) the graphics for Rome is just so much better that I can't go back to MTW just for graphic effects reasons. Oh yeah, the campaign concept in Rome is much better as well. In my opinion they should have made Rome first and then Medieval. In fact I want them to remake medieval RIGHT NOW.

Never played shogun.

I agree with this 100%. If CA simply remade Medieval using Rome's engine, UI, etc., I could die a happy man. ~D

MTW. I am currently playing RTW, but only because of the battle engine. I liked MTW's building roster, unit rosters, capture/ransom of men, governors, generals, rebellions, faction re-emergence, and some of the Battle AI. I didn't like the diplomacy.
I like Romes battle engine (not the battle ai), the strat map a little, and the diplomacy a lot. If the seige bug were fixed I would like it even more. I don't like the temple bonuses, but I can fix those myself.

STW:WE. I like them all with MTW running a close second, but for me nothing can beat out that original excitement of playing STW. I'm still reading Japanese history because of STW.
It has more style than the others.
Also, I prefer the STW goal of "end the civil war" as opposed to RTW's and MTW's goal of "conquer the known world."

I wopuld have to say Medieval. Though Shogun is very close I think Medieval takes the cake with the large number of factions, the Ottomans are my favorite, cool units and sige weapons.

kiwitt,
Mongol Invasion is the expansion pack for STW. So, STW + MI = STW:WE (Warlord Edition is STW with the built-in expack)

For me, I prefer STW:WE.

- Simplier game which focus on the tactical combat.
- Small number of units but all have their usefulness. May be not for the Mongol units, but I didn't play as the Mongol as much.
- Terrain effect in battle map is the best of the three TW games.
- Weather effect during battle is much better than the later two.

You can buy shogun still online check out the url in my sig for online stores,

And mongold invasion Just has the mongol invasion (its an add on)
Warlord edition Is the full game and the addon in 1 But its not an add on its apart of the game,

So if you had shogun you would buy the add on,
and if you didnt you would buy The Warlord edition,
ans it already has the addon

Hope this helps

I wont comment on Rome.

shogun really is an amazing game. It just isn't as complicated as its successors. I do think the idea of uniting your country instead of conquering the world makes it easier to cope with losing. If your faction is eliminated, Japan will still be alright... just under another shogun
