View Full Version : Does anyone ever play MP anymore

I spent a little extra and bought the VI update so I could play the new campaign but now that I beat it I wanted to play online. To my horror, nobody was hosting or answering me back when I responded.

:help:

Plus, I can't host a game for some reason. I can Physically set one up but nobody can see it. I know I don't use a router so does anyone have any ideas on that one.

Oh, if anyone wants to host a game, I would love to get in on it. Just tell me a time.

:fainting: :rifle:

Last question, I haven't looked yet so could someone save me the trouble and tell me if you can host or play over a LAN. I have a few buddys who would like to play at the same time and it would be fun to TURN THE VOLUME WAY UP when I win and they can hear the victory music. Plus Trash TALKING would be fun :furious3:

I've only had the game for a couple months - I think I'm in my third SP campaign. I still have to use pause quite a bit during battles - I need to work on better ways to command/direct the troops.

I am definitely interested in trying MP some time. Although, in all likelyhood, I get another copy of VI and set up a LAN game with my son first - that way we can both learn how to do MP together.

But, I would be willing to try a "friendly" MP game with someone (who is not an expert - I expect to get my clock cleaned either way *grin*).

Sir, You are a gentleman and a scholor (and there are damn few of us left, eh?).

Most kind.

I shall polish my skills until I can operate 'pause free' (is there a 12-setp proram for that?) and then take you up on your offer.

for what its worth

over the years I've developed a little training routine where we go into a battle but we don't fight at first.

There we can talk about things and I can show you a few tricks, like the use of the Alt, Ctrl, Shift keys, how to group, decent armies, use of Hold Formation and Hold Position, lots of things.

By no means am I an expert - just ask any of the 1000s who have chased my troops off the field - but if you want to we can run through the things I know.

I'll be offline for several days (work!) but when I get back we can make this fun - no stress.

looking forward to it

Ichi-san,

I am unworthy of the honor you bestow upon me.

I appreciate the opportunity to learn from a master. ~;)

Good, maybe you could help me too. SOmething I don't understand.

How do you move your entire formation without it breaking apart when you move.

I often have very simplistic formations because I don't know how to mass move a formation I make. Yes, I know how to group but if I click and drag, then all I get is a straight line.

Oh, how do you BOUT FACE anyways - you know, whole army turn around at once.

Put your whole army into one group and then Alt right mouse button. Keep pressing down the key/mouse button and move mouse to rotate army while keeping the formation.

If you just use Alt left mouse button (just a click) your army will move towards the spot you have clicked on but it will keep the facing it it had at start.
