Anyone know of a site out there which has a good collection of the MTW clans that I know must be out there? Looking around on totalwar.org and through these forums, not a whole lot happening clan-wise for this game :P

No disrespect intended, but I wasn't terribly impressed with any of those. Was hoping to find a more comprehensive list somewhere.

What I expected? Well I have been running clans for a few years now, most recently in MW4, Ghost Recon, and Jedi Knight II. What i like to see from a clan is the following:
- A well organized command structure
- A group of obviously mature gamers. Few things are annoying to me as the 'l337' crowd
- An obvious level of activity, with a strong spirit within the clan
- A sense of 'going somewhere'. What is the clan trying to accomplish? This doesn't have to be 'being the best', but even simple goals like maintaining a strong role play atmosphere, having tourneys within the clan - things to keep the clan strong and active. Things to keep it fun.

I think most clans are well organised, mature, active and have goals also.
Wolves want to be good (if not best)
Kenchi want to be old (err..)
Elites are a German language clan
Bears want to beat Insanes
Insanes want to beat Bears
RTK want to be honourable (they are!)
Angels want to be bad (are they?)
Rage likes to stirr..err...soup also http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
Aggony want to have fun
Tenki want to..uhh...survive for now
Dreadmasters...honourable and standfast
etc, etc, etc...
And of course all clans want to become as good as possible.
Inter-clan politics are a game on it's own.
Tournaments and campaigns are played often.
IMHO...never a dull moment

Hehe. *marks Elrich down as a man who pays others to do his dirty work*
Anyways, back to the main debate, I used to be a member of Kenchikuka, way back when. Like many clans, it was filled with good intentions, and had a lot of promise... which in my mind never quite fulfilled.
At any rate, wanting to beat such and such a clan has little bearing on actual activity within the clan. I don't see any recruiting pitches from any of these clans listed saying exactly what thay DO - what they have to offer a prospective member.
That, to me, shows a lack of direction right there.
I can only speak for Aggony...
This I copied from our site:
* About ideals and clanspirit *
We love to have fun among eachother and together with our friends an allies. We train ourselves and our recruits to become as good as we can. We are disgusted by cheaters, impostors and dishonourable behaviour in general. We are willing to help all who have problems playing the game.
We are loyal to the clan, to our clanleader and to eachother beyond believe. We support eachother and cherish our friendship.
Although we try to become as good as possible, we can probably never compete with the best clans, because we accept(ed) less gifted players in the clan. Loyalty, friendship and fun above skill.
We love this game and the online community, it's hard to explain, but Aggony is a clan with a heart and a soul.
And...we are here to stay!

what was your name back then?
what do you think is the purpose of being in a clan?
for me it is plying with people that you enjoy playing with.
i am apart of a group of people at kenchi that imo are up for having some fun and are easy to get along with http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif (after all that is the point of playing computer games)
what other direction do you want?
all i can say is go play online and if you dont enjoy it dont play http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif - barry

Hehe. Good luck finding that, ninja. I used the nick Kurushio when I was in Kenchikuka, and this was quite some time ago. I liked the clan, and as I said I think they had a lot of potential. I do not intend for my words to in any way be a slur on the current incarnation of Kenchikuka. The way things were run back then, I had been promoted to a position of *moderate* authority, but the activity level amongst the clan was so low on some fronts you couldn't even get a team practice going.
To the Aggony member who posted: typos etc aside, that sounds like a good atmosphere you are trying to promote. Good luck with it!
Yeah, Kenchi in 2000 was quite different. It peaked around July/August, many active members (30+ registered) and the #1 rank. After September the situations turned bad, many gone inactive (don't remember you Kur sorry) and only some 4/5 played. But we were still alive and scheming, but the old days weren't to be established again until 2001. Today, at the dawn of Autumn 2002 things are different then Autumn 2000...we're much more united, less members, active a lot and all know each other well and know our strengths and weaknesses (where's Greta Rath http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif)

One thing I've always wanted to say about Kenchi:
You got tonnes of players registered simply 'cos Kenchikuka came at the top of the clas list. Peeps who couldn't be bothered to change the clan joined Kenchi. It's the first time I've seen K come before every other letter in the alphabet when the list was supposed to be alphabetical in order http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
Plus there were no passwords so peeps just click "join". I bet Kenchikuka had plenty of players that didn't even know they were in the clan...
And 'cos at that time the clans honour was all the members added together, with all these "extra" players Kenchi had much honour which, and I don't mean to discredit the hardcore members, they would not have had if the clan was passworded.
------------------
Fëa-Quendi
In old days it happened like Chaos - tons of members, some of them not knowing that the heck they're in for http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif There was another 'kenchikuka' during the time, it was registered by mistake. Satake, Magyar, Darth, Daimon and Momo ....especially were doing good...they gave us the #1 at the time...but you're right - our daimyo Asaji never played and the clan structure was not good...I remember when that Gandalf offended someone or something ...and was kicked appropriately. There are tales where that old fox might have ended up but I guess they'll remain so...
Heh, those times were quite...hectic. I don't remember them too well, was a Kenchi newbie at the time, but for you they must be intense remembrances indeed Soul! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Okay fellas. To avoid any arguements over Kenchikuka's age, prestige or how proud we/they are,we are proud to announce the decisions taken in a recent clan meeting. (Well actually it was only me, Rath and Tera but the others will see the sense.)
Kenchikuka is going to be reborn as the HARDCORE Crew. We figured this name would be suitable as we are clearly hardcore and there can be no arguments about it. As well as this clan name change, individuals will take up a street name. I will now be know as N-Killa (ma homies never took the ninja bit seriously), Tera will be know as The Tera (need I explain), meanwhile Rath will become The wRATHe (that breda got nuff anger being constantly abused for being Ozie).
Anyway from now on we will be demanding nuff respec, else I go get ma gat bruck up all yow bitch arses.
Keep it real.
Peace and just remember:

The purpose of a clan may not necessarily be to grow in size so I wouldnt judge them based on their recruiting efforts. I think that many of the clans right now may be content with their numbers, and the few that aren't run a small recruiting campaign for a limited time.
The smaller the better IMO
ShadeWraith

Nice to see I now have "Esteemed" status on the forums now...does this mean I can have my own custom icon? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif As far as Dumps comments on recruitment are concerned I can only concur. Shades have a very low level of recruitment and appear to be prospering that way. Our approach is to cherry pick players we get along with during online play...rather than having an open recruitment policy. This method enables us to avoid the usual hassles brought about by including the wrong type of players in your clan.

Yeah I think a small, but active clan is best. Kenchi are a bit wierd it that respect: cos we re so old (no arguements plz http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif) we got a lot of inactive members. I hope it didnt offend anyone, but when we restructured a few months back we kinda cut a lot of old faces old. Nevertheless tehyre welcome back. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
