Roman faction reaction to your diplomacy

Say, I am the Brutii. I am offered the chance for an alliance with Carthage, Gaul etc.. Scipii and Julii are at war with them. Should I do this? I noticed that when I did, these two factions declared a ceasefire.. I see the tattered alliance results when I do this with non roman factions..

When you ally with someone your allies are at war with, they stop fighting. When two of your allies attack each other, you can choose which ally you want to stick with.

I have a question, I get the message about your allies going at war with each other.. I tihnk the message is worded very poorly and I always pick the wrong people who I want to stick with. Can someone help? Thanks

Thanks. I'm starting to struggle now, I was on 32.5 posts per day at one point but now slowly it's dropping.

On-topic: I was once allies with the Julii but they cancelled the alliance after 10 or so years.
