When I start the Campaign game proper I go through to selecting Factions then click on Proceed with Campaign then get the Medieval loading screen and it crashes back to the main menu.
My system
advent 7003 laptop
windows xp home edition
40GB memory
2000Mhz
S3 DDR ProSavage processor
Pentium 4 intel
Any help greatfully appreciated

Most of the time Crash to Desktop (CDT) seems to be a result of incompatibility between the latest version of Direct X (V9.0 something I believe) and the current version of Nvidia drivers.

There have been multiple threads regarding this, check out the Apothocary for lots of good techcal information.

Here is one of the threads (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=46344)that discussed the Nvidia problem.
