Why does the AI continuously make stupid offers?
Picture this, playing as Thrace, Greek Cities are eliminated, and I'm fighting Macedon. Macedon has only Sparta left, and it is under seige from a vastly superior army. The AI now decides it's time to offer me a ceasefire. If I pay them 50000 denarii. And I give back everything I conquered.
Surely the AI should have a survival do everything possible to get a ceasefire trigger, not make stupid offers which nobody bar Craterus will ever accept.

I was once asked for a ceasefire, money and a couple of settlements by the Julli. I offered them the ceasefire in return for them paying me, which they accepted.
Then in the same turn they promptly besieged one of my cities breaking the ceasefire they had just paid dearly for ~D

yes DGB that happens, you should just ignore it and move on with you''re campaign, or try and offer them the ceasefire , but also tell them ''accept or we will attack ''
maybe that 'll help, however, there is ,much to be improved in RTW diplomacy, some finishing touches would be welcom.
PS : CRATERUS what the hell were you thinking ! ~;)

I never really accepted one of those lol. I had a Julii general standing outside one of my towns and every turn he besieged it. Then I offered him Ceasefire and Trade Rights and he accepted. The next turn, he besieges and I reply with the same offer, he accepts. This went on for about 10 turns and eventually the Julii sent more men, trying to encourage him to get on with taking the town but he still accepted the same proposals over and over again. Eventually, I attacked him because of the devastation on my land and they were blocking some trade getting out of my city. Stupid Romans.

Speaking of bizarre diplomatic behavior, has anyone ever been attacked by a faction the same turn they made you their Protectorate?
While losing ground to an embarrassingly powerful Thracian offensive the other day, the Thracians approached one of my cities and demanded I become their Protectorate. To buy myself some time and a temporary ally, I accepted. As it turns out, the big burly general standing behind the Thracian diplomat was none too happy with this turn of events as he immediately besieged the city.
