Thanks,

What do 1.03 & 1.05 do insofar as improvement is concerned?
Where do I get the 1.05 patch?
How do I get 3 versions on 1 machine without running into problems?
I did download Hellenic Total War and it always "Stuck" itself to Medieval Total War, until I learned to install MTW in its own default folder & then Install HTW in the same folder, then make a separate folder for MTW only. If that makes sense.

Where do I get Statswapper and how do I "Swap" between 1.02/.03/05?

Thanks. Gozai Mas

I may be wrong here But stats swaper Is for shogun total war,
And it edits some units details,
You need to upgrade to v1.02 1st then you can use
Stats swapper for STW

They make changes to the unit stats, addressing unit imbalance in the 1.02 stats. A lot of subtle changes (too many to list as I can't remember them all; maybe Puzz3D will comment; he was involved with the development). Here's what I remember for 1.03: Monks improved, Naginata Inf improved, musket effectiveness reduced, Yari ashigaru effectiveness reduced, Cav charge increased, but cav melee decreased. 1.03 is best balanced at 7,000 - 8,000 koku per player in MP. 1.05 is essentially 1.03 with improved Mongol units, so many use 1.05 for mongol games.

Where do I get the 1.05 patch?
The 1.03 and 1.05 patches simply swap out a couple of files that affect unit statistics (troopstats.txt and projectiles.txt). They don't change anything else (but the battles do play a lot differently than 1.02 at approriate koku levels). The statswapper I threw together last year includes both, and allows you to switch between 1.02, 1.03 and 1.05 whenever you like with relative ease, using a little utility program (provided you've already installed the official 1.02 beta patch; you must do this first). Shambles has the statswapper available for download on his site, and I think it's listed here on the Mizu server as well.

Only one stat is active at a time. the Statswapper switches from one set of files to another depending on the stat you want to use. Only two files are involved (as I mentioned above). The utility program that comes with the statswapper enables you to switch stats. Get the swapper either from downloads on the Mizu server (I think you can access it from the downloads link on the main website here), or from Shamble's server (check the Shogun Diehards thread for a link).

v1.03 & v1.05 work with the Warlords Edition or with the Mongol Invasion add-on for STW. TogakureOjonin gave a good explanation of the changes.

The STWmod for MTW/VI is a full SP campaign and graphic conversion with gameplay closer to original STW. You can get in from the links in my sig. To use this mod it's best to make a complete copy of your MTW/VI v2.01, and apply the STWmod to that since it overwrites lots of files and is not switchable back to regular MTW/VI.

can you use the stats swaper with the Shogun tw mod for medieval?

Or must you use the real shogun total war?

The STW statswapper is specific to STW. All it is is a DOS batch program that copies the troopstats.txt and projectiles.txt files for 1.02, 1.03 or 1.05 from their storage folders (which are created by the installer) to the main STW folder, which makes that stat active (they overwrite whatever troopstats.txt and projectiles.txt files are currently in there). A funky old-style DOS interface allows a player to choose the stat they want when they run the swapper.

The statswapper could easily be cloned and modified for any TW game, as could a new installer be made. I used a freeware installer software that Tosa recommended (can't remember what it's called, but I still have it here somewhere).
