View Full Version : TOTAL WAR MEETING...REPORT!!!!!!!!
Hello,
It's 11 am, just crawled out of my bed...slight hangover...Rhino dung taste in my mouth...unshaved...
Ah...the Bear just woke up as well...morning Blade!
Ok...we had a really nice meeting last night...
AggonyNaak, AggonyValkyria, Katsuchiyo, Magyarkhan, The Khan's principal wife (Karin), Darealruler, DRB, Kocmoc, FearOfFuCy, MajesticSoul, 7Bear7Blade, AggonyKasuga, Lady Kas (Michelle), Allan (will be Wellington), Jaap (my server guy) and his GF Vivien.
I picked Val and Naak up from Amsterdam Airport on friday and had a nice clan-dinner on fridaynight.
Saturday afternoon I picked up Katsuchiyo from the railway station and went to the meetingplace.
Ohh..err...hold on...The Bear needs food....brb.
Ok...fed the Bear and chased him out of the Hague...where was I?
Ahh...meeting...ok
At 18:00 the first showed up...complete at 19:00. (It took Blade 2 hours to find the restaurant http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif). Was amazing to meet a guy called Allan...he came in: "Hello, I'm Allan, you guys don't know me...I never played online...but I will"
Was great to meet the Wolves again. Koc, Mag and Dareal I met in Cologne before...really nice to meet DRB and Mag's principal wife Karin.
Also a joy to meet Fucy again and of course the presence of 4 Aggonies and Lady Kas (Michelle)
The 7bear7 clan send their emmisary 7Bear7Blade, the Majestics send Soul (totalwar.org moderator also)
My good friends Jaap (computer/internet wizard) and Vivien joined in also.
We had a spicy Thai dinner (not for the faint hearted!) and talked about Shogun, Medieval Total War, Clans, tactics, the community and our personal life.
At about 23;00 Michelle drove Dareal, DRB and Kats to the station.
The rest of us moved across the street to a bar called "Que Pasa?" and we went on until closing time at 02:00
Michelle and Karin...gave us that motherly "ain't they sweet?" look http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif
I got a pewter hip flask engraved with: "KAS, TOTAL WAR MEETING, THE HAGUE 2002" from Val and Naak. WOW!!!!
After closing time Mag, Kocmoc and Karin saddled their horses and left for the Mongolian steppes.
The rest of us went to Aggony Castle for a night cap (err...a few of them)
At about 03:00 we all started to fall apart a bit, so I called a few taxis.
Blade stayed at Aggony Castle for the night.
Was a really nice meeting again...a shame some didn't show up, but that's life.
We had great fun....see you all on the battlefield and who knows...till the next meeting

it was well organised Kas, and another succes added to the story. our Khan was happy he was at the meeting. Lets aim for a next meeting in Wales or London....

even Karin had a nice time altho she wouldnt come a next time, since all the guys talked about war.... (wheres the love ;o)

I hav'nt yet played MTW online. I'm more involved in the modding aspects of the game ... and having heard of the quality of the on-line guys who attended the Den Haag meeting, er, maybe I should stick to what I know best - for now!
On a more serious note there are a LOT of very interesting projects ongoing in the 'Editing/modding thread' - different units/periods/tactics. May be worth checking them out sometime.

Yep ... managed to stagger home and avoid the odd vehicle or two that appeared to be gunning for me! The walk to collect my car the next morning was bit grim though.
