New to the game
I've read about and experienced the bug where an AI siege is broken when you continue a previously saved campaign.
I was wondering why the AI was taking it easy on me in my first campaign.
Is there a work around for this? With 2 young kids in the house I usually have to break up my RTW sessions in short intense periods.
TIA
Unfortunately it's hard-codded, therefore nothing can be done about this. Otherwise modders would have dealt with this. I don't know whether I'm lucky or not but I noticed that in RTR (5.4.1) the AI doesn't automatically lift sieges after a reload. Perhaps it's just a coincidence.
By the way, welcome to the .org ~:)

well if your system can handle it, don't quit RTW, alt tab and leave it on the desktop, then u won't need to reload the game ;) or alt tab and go to hibernate mode, not sure if standby works, it probably won't cos windows should prompt u to exit all current running programs.
and the recommended amt of turns btw loads is abt 7, i usually stick to that to minimise the damage.
Also if u want a greater challenge on the strategic map and battle, download spqr or rtr mod, both adds more realism and makes the game more challenging. but it doesnt fix the bug.

The only good solution is to leave the program running. Playing for a minimum of 5 turns helps, but of course doesn't cure the problem. You will see funky things happen like Germania with 8 provinces will become a Protectorate of the Julii because another feature of this bug is that factions will automatically accept requests to become Protectorates after a load, and there is no way you can stop the AI from making those requests. Nice, huh?

Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully there will be a fix in the future.
There won't be a fix because CA's official position is that it's not broken, and is working as intended. They take this so seriously that discussion about this issue is banned on the official site.
Really?
Thats sad indeed :embarassed:
I hope they change their minds.

Personally I think an even worse part of this is that I believe CA has every intention of fixing it in the expansion pack, and then using that as an enticement to get people to pay $35 for an expansion just to get the version 1 bugs out. Of course, there will then be bugs in the expansion, but after 2 quick patches for that, we'll be stuck with what we get because that will be the end of the line for the RTW project.
