I noticed that Sparta and Rome can export stuff to other regions but in the trade scroll it doesn't show any good being exported yet rome and sparta still make money off of exporting, is this maybe because they have hidden resources and if it is then how can I make it that they can't export the hidden resources for profit?

Also I noticed that Rome has mines yet no gold or silver to mine, why is that?

Iron mines, copper mines, you can mine lots of things..
I think it might be because they are "famous cities" so they have to be good for something..

they trade (read buy from other cities) and sell that on their own markets for profit and they sell the traded goods further to other cities

I don't know, you could try deleting the resources. This may make the game crash.

Hah!
I fart in the general direction of your so called "descr_regions", you hidden English pig-dog resource of Britannia Inferior, you!
Guess-a what? The pig-dog store just called, and they are out, so you go round there sharpish, eh? Already. :tongueg:

On a slightly more serious note, the hidden resources control stuff like unit production. Adding both trade resources and hidden resources has been done in mods. Removing pigs, dogs and Sparta should be OK, it just means noone gets wardogs, incidental piggies or Spartan Total-Hoplites.

I believe you can build them anywhere, I think the pig/dog resource is a forgotten remnant in the files.

In browsing the regions in the past, every city seems to have pigs and dogs.

I was surprised to see that Syracuse also was blessed with "sparta".

And sure enough, you can produce Spartan Hoplites there.

I'm surprised to learn the goods "sparta" and "italy" generate trade value. Maybe it's a tourism business.

Nah, Sparta exports her young men (for whatever reasons) and Italy is th cultural export (yes that is way to build a proper Roman house).

More seriously, I agree it is a bit odd that these resources actually generate revenue, I mean they are hidden and they are not a physical resource rather two places.

Maybe Sparta can export Molossian hounds? Those dogs were vicious..

The Stranger

Just looked at the files. Dogs and pigs are generally not to be found in the east or in Africa, but pretty much everywhere in W/Europe.

There are 2 cities (nicomedia, ancyra) that have dogs but not pigs, but no cities that have pigs but not dogs.

Syracuse has "sparta" and "italy".
Rome has "rome" and "italy".
