ya know, something along the lines of ye olde Virtual Globe?
I have access to a huge GIS database using ARCView and ARCMap, and I also use TopoUSA. But I prefer DeLorme for mapping software (at least here in the US)

Ooh, ooh, i know! Pick me!! Go here: Google Map! (maps.google.com) Google have made a map service. You can either have normal map road map mode, which only works for Britain and USA, or you can have satellite mod, which let's you zoom in quite close on most of the world.

I use encarta world atlas. It's the best in my opinion. Very useful.

Yeah, I've read google is using a satelllite service for free ~
Personally, I use Mapquest.

Yep. Love that Google Map! But as far as I see you can only get North America in any detail. Didn't know you could do Brittain thoug. Going to check that out.
