I'll do mine later, I can't check the traits at the moment.

Great thread, by the way, I was thinking of a thread where you could assess your skills. Say how many command stars, management scrolls and influence "things" you would have, but this is even better.

Perhaps you are just "axebitten"? Or are you just trying to hide how scarred you really are - a man worthy of the trait "scares small children"? ~D I love that trait, I once got it for one of my governors. I'd have loved to give him retinue "carnifex" and make him go dangerously mad too, but I didn't succeed at that, so I made him one of the most feared commanders in my empire... People trembled every time he put on his armor, because they knew excessive bloodshed was inevitable...

Craterus

Axebitten is just "This man is best pointed towards the enemy..."

Axebitten is just "This man is best pointed towards the enemy..."

Ok, I must have gotten it wrong then. After all it's been a while since I played my Dacian campaign where I had all those axebitten guys.

Craterus
05-04-2005, 21:56
No probs, how was that Dacia campaign? I'm thinking of starting one.

Anyway, on-topic, are retinues included in this as well?

Rodion Romanovich
05-05-2005, 08:28
No probs, how was that Dacia campaign? I'm thinking of starting one.?

Dacia is really fun, it really never stops being challenging. The scythians will need to be dealt with before they got too strong, but at the same time Macedon is an immediate threat due to all their early armies of light lancers. You also start without access to sea, so a quick strike against Thrace is necessary. If you can kill most of the scythians and the macs early, then there's the risk of a war with Germania and you can be sure to soon be at war with Greece. Greece isn't too hard to deal with, but you don't have unlimited time to deal with them, because if you leave the romans too long they'll grow too strong for you... Not until the romans are almost down can you rest, but then perhaps pontus will start going hostile...

So, in conclusion, it's a really nice faction to play, especially as you can command those wonderful falxmen!

The Stranger
05-05-2005, 16:13
i suggest to look at my Play the rebels thread if you want a real challenge

Craterus
05-05-2005, 19:08
Dacians are the only landlocked country at the start, aren't they? Wow, I just realised that.

tibilicus
05-05-2005, 20:00
Oh ye ! There must be some more let me think.............. Nope even Parthia have sea acses

Craterus
05-05-2005, 20:56
Yea up at that sea by Sakae. Lol, it's quite amazing. I thought Germania for a second but they have the north.

Titus Livius
05-05-2005, 21:09
Yet in spite of being land-locked the Dacians always manage to do very well in the games I play. I've only once seen them succumb to the Thracians. I always regard them as a threat.

Craterus
05-05-2005, 21:12
I thought it was their lack of threat that made them stay in it to the late game. I always thought other factions thought they weren't worth the bother of conquering.

I guess one of your traits would be Cruelly Scarred, Titus Livius ?

Perhaps. But they do manage to end up on my doorstep with a full-stacked army much of the time.

And I'm grateful for every single scar. They're good teaching tools. :book:

adding traits is pretty easy to do, but hard to explain. i can do it

derF
05-07-2005, 12:46
Im sure it can be done in. At the moment im editing the file that contains all the traits (export_VnVs) to make it more readable for anyone that wants to have a go at this.

Ill post it here soon.

I've re-assessed my traits. They were a bit hmmm, yea.

Kraxis
05-08-2005, 02:41
My goodness Craterus, if that list is your revised list... With that you are something like normally 15 stars and in basically all battles at least 18 stars. Come on.

Skilled Debater is something you learn with time, at the moment I would class most people as purely Stubborn rather than Skilled Debater.

Anyway, I actually prefer more personalized traits. For me like:
Selective Debater: This man never enters an argument when he doesn't know he can win, and if other people who knows better enter he tends to sneak out the backdoor.
Impetuous: Lacking the patience in battle he often finds himself in tough situations, but the men like his aggressive ways.

The Apostate
05-10-2005, 02:07
One of my family members had 'Indolent Lardy Arse' (or something very similar - along with a whole bunch of other negative VnVs) which is definitely me nowadays...

Can't remember if it was that trait that was to blame, but this guy reached 45 with no redeeming qualities whatsoever and provoked riots whenever you left him in a city - eventually I just put him on a boat and sent it off on a suicide mission attacking Roman fleets.

By that stage I was actually quite fond of him....

Oh and 'Hates Egyptians'.

No command traits, never been in war. but im am lazy!

Craterus
05-13-2005, 21:44
I put command ones in because I can command pretty well on RTW, I don't know how I would do in the field (crap I bet). I suppose they were trained on how to be a general from an early age though and if I was given the right sort of training, I'm sure I could command pretty good. Should I leave them (command traits) in, or out?

The Stranger
05-14-2005, 13:42
well, i put them in cuz, people listen to me, when i say things they do it. also i can convince people fast. and i'm not scared to go in first, most people just follow me. also i'm not afraid to use phisical power to achieve my goals. if you have the same leave it in

Craterus
05-14-2005, 13:44
I have good charisma (I'm persuasive and people listen to me) and I can lead pretty well if I try.

The Stranger

05-14-2005, 16:47

what descriptions. of character or their looks.

Craterus
05-14-2005, 18:50
Descriptions using RTW traits? Duh. What else?

If you want to describe your appearance, you could, but there's no need really. There is a few traits that describes looks, (handsome, ugly, scarred etc.)

Alternatively, you could post a picture of yourself in the Gallery threads in the Frontroom.
