So whats the main course you like the best. Miine is pot roast with spaetzle and red gabbage. Saurbratten is ok but I prefer plain old pot roast.

While were at it whats your favorite ethnic cuisine. For me that easy. Itallian hands down with German conmng in second. Im a real meat and potatoes guy.

Hehe - there is no way I could pick a single dish. It depends too much on my mood, the weather, the time of the year (although a lot of dishes I would favour in any situation are likely to involve dark meat like beef, duck, deer).

Regarding regional cuisine, I would also go for Italian food as it has to offer so much along all dimensions of a meal starters, salads, main courses in all variations, deserts (!!) and of course some fantastic wines to go with the food. Also Italian food offers a great mixture of down-to-earth food and some more delicate stuff.

GAH ... I am getting really hungry now

Beef. Beef. Beef. And more Beef. Although, Chicken also edges its way in.

T-bone steak is tasty, I would say that is my favourite.

Well as much as love Japan the only thing that stopped me from staying there was the food ~:) Like I said Im a meat and potatoes man and you dont see much of those there. Hey Ichi you see how much a Kobe steak costs? I rememeber an itallian resturant over there. It looked like Itallian food and was quite good but it sure didnt taste like Itallian food ~D

The women are quite edible and delicious though.

Any type of fish, but preferably Salmon or Tuna, marinated or not.
Plain un-buttered rice.
Green salad with rasberry dressing.

Any sort of drink, maybe Seltzer water, quenches thirst...

Mrs ichi and I have been saving up for over two years for our planned trip. A night out for sushi and sake usually sets us back quite a bit more than a mexican fiesta would.

Grilled fish, no sauces or anything like that, just a bit of olive oil and garlic added.

My favorite ethnic cousine is Mexican. I could eat fajitas de pollo all the time. In fact, my favorite cousine would be Mediterranean, but since that's more like a native cousine for me, Mexican is the next best thing.

Hehe ... that reminds me of a conversation we had with a guy at the tourist information at Beppu in Japan.
He was telling us how much he liked Germany/Europe, but that he just could not understand why we would eat potatoes as they do not have any flavor (he also mentioned that his family used to eat potatoes when they were poor)

Of course that was all in good fun, but my wife who grew up in a family that almost literally worships potatoes his comments were a bit "disturbing" ~D

Hare. Pobably the best meat one can ever get ones teeth in. Properly cooked it can beat stuff like chateaubriand single-handedly.

Hmm, Thai, chinese, Indian and Mexican are my favourite's, don't like Italian very much apart from pizza obviously but that's really just Italian cheese on toast.

A big bowl of brown Basmati rice with vegetables. Dump a can of salmon on top and bury the whole thing in a painful amount of hot peppers and a bit of plain yogurt. And some good bread on the side.

I ate this for breakfast and dinner every day for years. My buddy called it The Food of the Gods. It was the only thing he ever saw me eat. And I always looked forward to my next meal.

Steak and Kidney pie. No disrespect Beruit but I think you will find THAT is the true food of the Gods. And they have Cornish pasties for lunch, yum.

As for ethnic, Indian, obviously. Get the cuzza in! Though my sister in law does really really good Iranian food (why oh why was my wife not also paying attentiion when my mother in law did the cookery lessons...?)

Steak and Kidney pie slaughters my goat, but I'm going with a nice, jumbo, double-layered poutine. If I'm feeling adventurous, I'll exchange the gravy for bacon and try to eat it before it congeals.

I enjoy alot of ethnic food, but it must have meat. I don't think I can pick a favourite ethnicity for food.

Damn, tough call.

It's a tie between veal cutlet parmesan w/pasta, preferably spaghetti (size 8) w/eggplant as a veggie and my dear old mum's homemade lasagna... it's sinfully good.

Taco shop!

Followed by Japanese; Italian; and various curries from the Middle East, India, and Japan.

Sometimes nothing but a pizza will do.

Curry, no question about it. I normally go for a meat Du Piaza with mushroom pilau rice, but I'm not picky.

Steamed shrimp/prawns (hot or cold) and some cocktail sauce. The best I ever had was at a place called Deanie's in New Orleans. Awesome.

As far as ethnic food, I'd have to go with Italian.

I also have to agree with Tachi about pizza - sometimes only it will do.

Mums Turkey and Ham pie!! Hummm.

But it really does depend on my mood, or if im playing rugby at the weekend. I like Steaks (Bloody!) but red meat takes up to 3 days to digest so not good if i have to run around, Chicken and pasta are good if im playing.

I spent 10 weeks in china and loved the food there even if i didnt know what it was 95% od the time! I'll aslo eat curry!

I love curry up to about madras/jalfaizie temp, after that is starts getting a bit too pokey.

A new Morrocan resturant has opened over here and im starting to get ito that as well. Fried Couscous is good as well as spicy meatballs.

Also love toad in the hole with lots of onion gravy!

Right thats enough for now, have to go for lunch!

How can I answer this? Food is one of my greatest hobbies and with so many wonderful meals it would depend upon mood. Tonight I prepared trout fillets with lemon, garlic and wild rocket. Served with buttered new potatoes, broccoli and carrots and a wickedly spicey courgette and red pepper ( drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with salt, pepper, chilli flakes and paprika ) Tomorrow evening we shall tuck into fillet steak ( medium rare, you have to have the juices ) Then there is Devilled chicken and cous cous, curry......mmmmmmm. You just got to love food
