I just uninstalled and reinstalled RTW but when i went to reinstall patch1.2 it told me that the patch is already installed which it obviously isnt. Do i need to install patch1.1 first? Any idea what i could be doing wrong?
Thanks.
Just had EXACTLY the same hassle myself. I had messed up my animations files, and hadn't backed up ( silly me!! ) so I uninstalled, reinstalled, and got the same thing.
To cure it, I had to go into the registry and clear out EVERY entry that hte uninstaller had left behind. One reg key was the install of the patch.....
Fire up regedit, and do a search for 'rome' and see what you get. Editing the registry like this can be a bit daunting...and ALWAYS back it up before you start in case you screw it up. There are also some applications you can download to help clean out the old junk that hte registry accumulates.

Did you delete the saved games? COs it happened to me aswell, bu I just removed the RTW folder completely and I was able to install normally.

Do you have any idea which file(s) to delete in the registry? Are there any other options? Is it possible to find patch1.2 as a .zip file so i can simply extract it?

See here (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=25963).

Simetrical's link is pointing to a good set of instructions for what I did. Downloading a 'zip' of the patch isn't possible as far as I know. The patch was only ever released as an exe file, and I don't know exactly what files it changes.
Editing the registry CAN be scary, but it DOES solve the problem
Why not get a copy of Registry mechanic 4.0, it works fine for me.
It shows a list of the files that it thinks are threats, and it shows you so as to give you the decision of what to do even if you don't repair you could at least map them the uninstall.

P.s. I would find out for you but, thats all the fun. ~:)

I finally got a chance to retry and it still didnt work. Ive tried editing the registry manually and using a registry cleaner. Are there any other possible ideas?
