Unlock new factions

Sorry if this topic has been posted, but how do you unlock the Barbarian factions??? I really really want to play as the Germans....Can you tell me how??

I believe you have to conquer them, in campaign.

No, to play as the Germans, you have to unlock them by editing the files. Or, you can just get this handy-dandy download to do it for you: Fraction Unlocker (http://www.twcenter.net/downloads/db/?mod=75) I think that CA didn't want us playing as the almighty Germans because of the fact that their economical situation is so horrid that it takes a pro to play them and not lose in the first 10 turns.

Or youy can manually mod them in your game, but some one else can probably tell you more about that since I just downloaded the mod ~:)

Oh, an unplayable faction.

Hmm...

C:/Program Files/Activision/Data/Maps/Imperial Campaign/descr_strat.txt

With that file, you can alter the faction of your choice to be playable. It's fairly straight forward.

The Germans are NOT an unplayable faction. Just win a campaign and the following factions will all be unlocked:

Britannia
Gaul
Germania
The Greek Cities
The Seleucids
Egypt
Carthage
Parthia

Each of factions will also be unlocked after you conquer them in a campaign game.
To play as the other nine factions (Spain, Scythia, Dacia, Thrace, Macedon, Pontus, Armenia, Numidia or SPQR), you'll either need to unlock them yourself manually or listen to Mikeus.

Just to clear things up, germania IS a playable faction, and you do not have to edit the game code to play. Other barbarian factions e.g Dacia, are unplayable and you have to edit game code to play as them.
