How much do you walk every day or week?

Had the thought while strolling to my buddy's today for our Sunday visit. It's about a mile each way. A very pleasant walk. I wondered how much the car had taken over from our feet amongst us.

I figure I walk at least three to four miles a day. Somewhere between twenty-five and thirty miles a week at least on average. More when work calls for it.

When I lived in the real boonies, I walked at least fifty or sixty a week.

I can walk forever, even with a load on my back, but as a wheezing asthmatic, my running is measured in yards.

Yeah i feel I can walk forever too. I only stop when my feet hurt to much from the contact(I have flat feet). I like to walk, I find it helps my thinking.

Donno exactly how much I do it though.

i like to walk quite a bit - though i doubt it is that much

i used to do cross country - so id rather walk 10 miles than run it

it ruins my body

anyway - when the summer starts - i hope to walk a mile a day coupled with 200 pushups

maybe more - but we will see how it goes

i conscider "walking" only to be the amount that i consciously walk to and from places

so i dont add it all up together

anywhere between 3 and 30000000000 miles a day

I really like walking while listening to music, myself. I think, when averaged out as I tend to walk more on the weekends, I probably walk about 3 miles a day.

I like to walk a lot. Most of the time I walk to the institute, that's maybe 3 kilometers so 2 miles. That often several times per day, so maybe 20 miles per week plus maybe 10 miles for other destinations.

Posty here, so I have an unfair advantage. Ped-o-meter reads 8.7 miles per day; 'course we should subtract office steps and steps to lunch. Probably 7 and a half, I guess. 6 foot, 200 lbs. (Why is that important?).

The pedestrians here are impressive. Many more ground-pounders than I expected.

When I was a student I used to walk everywhere.
Now I can afford a bus ticket....

I walk to work every day, and then back home again, so that totals a bit less than 1 kilometer. :charge:

I walk pretty much everywhere; I prefer it to other means of transport ... unless the weather is really doing its British Worst.

I find myself doing the 2 1/2 (or is it 3?) mile round trip to town quite often at the moment; 20 minutes each way if I go the longer, quieter way, which I invariably do.

On weekdays I tend to walk probably about 5kms a day, around uni, along the river etc.

Wednesdays and Saturdays probably adds a lot as I play soccer, and I'm usually running from one end of the pitch to the other. Being the idiot I am it's not unusal for me to play in four teams for five a side, so lots of running. Not too mention that I like to see if I can make the guy marking me collapse by dragging him around the pitch.

Sunday has very little generally, I am invariably studying all day.

I walk about 8 miles every day (4 miles home-to-train station, 5 miles back) plus anything else I have to walk in college. Plus my gym routine. But thats running so doesnt really count.

Im 178cm (dunno how much that is in imperials) and 170 lb approx.

I think I walk a fair bit, wouldn't know the correct amount though.

5"2 , around 90lbs - probably a bit over.

When I lived in Australia I did quite a lot of walking as I had no car there (every day to and from uni). Now I hardly do any walking, I try to park as long as possible away from work and still get there in time (probably about half a mile/700 meters each way). I cycle to get those big leg muscles burning energy.

I am 6” and 218 lb.

I walk between 3-6 miles 3 times per week as exercise. Frequently Mrs ichi drives me to work and then I walk home in the evenings.

On Saturday we join a local hiking club to go exploring, usually 5-10 miles sometimes much much more (like the 4-day backpack of 37 miles)

Of course the reason I do this is for the great health benefits, but my job invovles a huge amount of walking. On a typical assignment I will supervise 1-3 miles of line that occassionally includes some steep terrain, which I cover back and forth for up to 16 hours. Sometimes we have to walk 3-4 miles from the road to get to the fire.

My knees are starting to go, so I could not run 100 feet if my life depended on it. But walking, especially with no pack or a light pack, is one of my favorite activities.

Next week I have to go take my annual fitness test, which involves 3 miles with a 45 lb pack in less than 45 minutes. It's a good standard - try it sometimes.
