depends on who u take, with the french, english, germans etc. its a lot of fun, but if u just got homelands and conquest goals then its boring, so it all depends on who u take

Also if you focus on the GA and not on domination, the other empires will get pretty powerful so you can't just blat them off the face of the earth. Politics and trade become more important.

In fact, there is only a difference if you WANT a difference to be there. i.e. if you roleplay instead of powerplay. Powerplay is of course the most efficient way to avoid bi enemies to create, & to win fast. But roleplay can be really fun - if you avoid powerplay.

Whatever your choice, the game is cool ~

So basicly it's a question of self control?

It's a question of whether you prefer to fufill the goals or take out enemies instead.

I would rather say that GA mode gives you anything conquest mode can and on top of that some extra goals to fulfill.
Even if you play in GA mode you can still march your troops across Europe as you would in the conquest mode and eradicate any resistance. This brings other factions' GA points to zero and means that you win anyway.
However GA mode gives you choice to play a more ambitious and interesting game instead. Played it the first time (!!!) about two weeks ago after having played exclusively conquest mode for 30 months. I will never look back.

I agree that some factions have interesting GA goals, with the French goals, the "build up Iberia" goals and the varios "make city x the largest in the world" goal being the harder and therefore more interesting.

However, the majority of the factions do not have any significant GA goals. For me, sitting around hoarding the same territory for 100-200 years becomes boring. What are you supposed to do, just sit and press the "end turn" button a lot of times? Therefore, it most often ends with me winning through supreme might anyway.

But if *all* factions had interesting goals, and about 4-5 times as many as they have now... then we'd be talking! GA is one of those things that makes MTW a far better game than RTW. Too bad it isn't really that fleshed out, and impossible to correct through modding.

Some factions can't really do anything other than power play. See Sicily. They at their best get 15 points from homelands (and that only occurs once I think), later it falls off to a signle point. Also they need five provinces to get a point for conquests. Basically all you can do is powerplay.

True, the division of GA points is far from even, with the biggest factions most often having both large amounts of home province points and all the cool, rewarding goals. That is another reason why there should be far more goals.
