Plus it's the right length of my hair. Sheesh! For all you know I could be a girlie...

Good grief! I had no idea lawnmowing was viewed as a British activity. I always thought it was one of those American things, like US football (notice I didn't say baseball, thank you). Anyway...
On topic: I've got 1/3 of an acre. When it gets long enough, and I know it's going to rain within 24 hours, I cut. That's usually 7-10 days. I travel a lot for work, so sometimes the missus does it when I'm gone, and sometimes I come home to a hayfield. So I get up the next morning and trim the grass, trim the hedges, and if the missus needs it, I do her trim too.

I have to factor in whether the grass looks long, how persistent my missus is being (she thinks it needs doing more than I do), whether I'm having a BBQ, and how much time I want to spend in the garden pushing a flymo round with a beer in the other hand. ~
Earlier this year I had a spas' :furious3: after my g/f was nagging me about the garden, so I went out and did it with garden shears! Took hours! Heh, she was fuming when it meant she had to deal with the baby all day! Ha ha. ~D

A 'lawn' is a cultivated patch of grass in your yard. In order to keep it looking nice, you have to cut it regularly. So, we have machines with a big spinning blade that comes along and cuts all the grass to a uniform height. That machine is a lawnmower.

As opossed to a garden or planting bed - patch of cultivated weeds in your yard.

Also to consider when determining frequency of lawnmowing is the type of grass grown.
Tall fescue grows taller quicker.
Dwarf fescue slower.
Bemuda speads laterally, more than horizontally.
edit: BTW, you guys set a record yesterday for number of new posts in a 24-hour period: 1,945. (Records searchable since Feb '05).
