I always have bought the first game of the series at bargain bin value. I was tempted to buy STW when it first came out. I saw the video of armies marching about at Bestbuy, they had a TV in the video game department that showed a quick glimpse of thier newest releases. I finally got it when it was 10 bucks, After I finished it MTW/VI was already out so I got that at a little less than release price.

So the only games I ever payed release price for are RTW and Diablow 2 and Diablow 2 LOD and Rollercoaster tycoon 3. That's all I can recall

So how often do people here pay full release price on it's first release?

generally speaking, i wait til the price of games drops to $30 CAD or lower

if it's a game i really want because of good multiplayer, then i might be willing to buy it at full price when it first comes out

but for singleplayer-only games, or games with lackluster multiplayer, it's very rare that i will pay over $30 CAD for that. especially since these days most games like that only last for 8 hours or so

I'll pay top dollar ($50+) for any good flight sim because I know I'm going to have a load of fun with it. The same with some hot new FPS titles like Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory or Far Cry.

Don't buy much else, but if I do, it's bargain bin.

I think the most I ever paid for any game was $99 for MS Flight Sim 2002 Pro Edition. Yeesh!

I buy many games at release price or a bit lower. I like a wide variety of games and play them quite a lot, so for me it is worth it.

I usually spend $45 or less. If I'm uncharacteristically impatient, I might approach $50 for something I know I'll like. $50 and up I won't touch because someone nearby will have a sale before long. I have many retailers in my area.

I wont pay more than £25 for a PC game. Esp if i order on line as i dont have to pay VAT in the channel Islands.

PS Nelson, do apples fly like Bananas too?

I pay about 30 euro for a game... I pay up to 40 euro if it's a great game(like a game that is part of Total War).....More than 40 euro, I won't pay... And many times I buy games after 4-5 months so they can lower the price...

I usually buy 2-4 games a year ASAP for full price ($50 or less). The games I'm all but sure will be good.

Anything else bargain bin or some kind of sale or if I have a coupon. A few years ago a K-Mart was going out of business and I was getting tons of new games for 50% off or more. Those are the sales to watch out for :D

I usually wait for the bargain bin, or gold/platinum/whathaveyou editions where I get expansion packs bundled in, so I'm in effect buying more than just one game in terms of content. The only games with which I didn't wait for the price drop were the TW games (all of them; damn shame I didn't wait with RTW), Baldur's Gate 2, and Morrowind. Everything else is not that intriguing that it couldn't wait for the discount. I also think that most games today are overpriced.
