I believe Pindar versus AdrianII is my favorite couple for a ring fight; only Adrian (with all due respect to other members) can put up a decent fight against Pindar.

On the general, I love Beirut’s witty replies to most of the provocative posts, and how he keeps his cool (most of the time, at least!). :thumbsup:

Btw, perhaps this was better suited for the Backroom, it’s a volatile topic and bound to see drawn knifes and some backstabbing few posts down the line ~D.

i haven't really been in enough debates to say. redleg comes to mind, but i haven't debated anything with him in a long time, if ever lol. i find myself on the opposite side from the conservatives a lot. but if i bother getting involved in hte discussion we usually just talk around each other.

I like reading the posts of Redleg, Pindar y Don Corleone. All seem to be utterly reasonable people. As to who I like seeing them debate, well I have no preference, as their own qualities tend to shine through no matter who it is.

The best debates happened at the beginniing of the invasion of Iraq, which strnagely coincided with the birth of my son (March 20th, 2003)!!! My son's a good Cheney!!!

You know, it's just too wide a list. It really depends on what sort of mood I'm in, and what I'm looking for.

On the right, which I'm partial to...

There's been times I've read D'Dave's posts and yelled "God damn right" right out loud. My wife came running into my study wondering who else was in the house.

Gawain is probably the master of the snide invective. I love how he keeps his cool and stays in the box (a trait I'd love to pick up). He is like a badger, and honestly, I've think of anyone in here, he's the best at keeping his cool when people start giving him crap.

Watching Pindar debate is like watching Bobby Fisher play chess. He gets everything lined up, then springs it on you. I do have to confess there are times I resort to skimming his posts, but the amazing thing is they're always spot on, and it's like listening to the Dead... you start to hear the riffs of the next argument he's making.

And Redleg is like Encyclopedia Brown. I don't know where he comes up with his resources, but it's amazing. There's no field of university study the guy can't spit a quote out on.

Now, to be fair, our worthy adversaries have their stars...

Aurielan can be absolutely maddening, but damn if he isn't always well armed and well backed up.

Jag just has this 'never say die' attitude you gotta respect. I think he's got tapioca for brains sometimes, but damn if he doesn't take his lumps and keep coming. I'm sure it'll offend him because we speak such a different language, but in his own way, I find him to be very honorable.

Tribesman makes me laugh, even when I'm ready to wring his neck. He's got a sly wit that's irreplacable and while it can blind me with rage on the rare occassion (cause I have a dog in the fight he's laughing about) usually it just helps me to see how foolish the emotional investment is sometimes.

Goofy has a way of phrasing things so that your side doesn't sound so crazy anymore. I may not agree with it when he's done, but at least he's managed to convince me by the end of a conversation that 1) he cares about his argument as much as I care about mine and 2) there are bridges.

Now, no list would be complete without a 3rd group that hasn't gotten notice:

Navaros: Dude, I gotta give you credit. I don't really know HOW you came to the beliefs (political mixed with religious) that you have living in Western Canada, but you are always entertaining. And constant as the Northern Star.

I think "wuh, what" is probably the unposted first line of everything you post on here, but you're always a gas.

If I've forgotten anybody (and they're coming to me as I type) please understand I can only type for so long. But I really do love this place, and there's not a single person on here that I don't appreciate knowing.
