I am in the process of trying to modify my Rome Total War game for the first time. I am editing the decr_strat.txt file. My goal is to make the game more"epic", lots of powerful countries, no real time limit, massive battles and campaigns

My changes so far are to extend the time the game runs (start sate -9999 bc, end date 9999 Ad), and adding troops and money to weak factions (Carthage especially). Ive changed the preferences.txt to unlimited men on the battlefiled

I would like to adjsut the game to make managing cities easier for me. Ideally, i would like all of my generals to mahve the Managment ability at 3 or higher. Is this possible? Is there an easy way to do it? I am a total noob at modding, so any help would be greatly appreciated

I guess the way to do this would be to give a trait to all family members, given to them on creation, which gives them managment. A similar method can be used to make boats faster.

as well as backups if u get a crash run your exe with a -show_err extension and it may tell you where the error is in your files and also only do a little at a time and keep your backups up to date this way if u make a mistake u can go to the previous version which u knwo was working and figure out what u did wrong. oh and welcome to the ORG
cheers knoddy

Yes, if you get an error, don't re-install immediately, the -show_err command can find the error most of the time.
