Come on this one album alone has a ton of hits

1. (1) Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)

2. (2) Knowing Me, Knowing You

3. (3) Take A Chance On Me

4. (4) Money, Money, Money,

5. (5) Rock Me

6. (6) Eagle

7. (7) Angeleyes

Side 2:

1. (8) Dancing Queen

2. (9) Does Your Mother Know

3. (10) Chiquitita

4. (11) Summer Night City

5. (12) I Wonder (Departure)

6. (13) The Name Of The Game

7. (14) Thank You For The Music

I doubt you will find many groups who have sold more records than them. Besides the girls are real lookers to boot.

In addition to INXS and AC/DC, YMO (Yellow Magic Orchestra, from Japan: Haruomi Hasono, Ryuichi Sakamoto and co.), the Gypsy Kings, and Jean Michel Jarre immediately come to mind. I'm also a big Michael Schenker fan (UFO, MSG).

I've always liked ABBA--probably the only modern musical group that my grandparents and me both liked. I particularly enjoyed Erasure's technopop covers of Lay All Your Love on Me, S.O.S, Take a Chance on Me, and Voulez Vous (good spastic electronic dance music).

Pink Floyd.

They may have been born in England (I believe) but they were descended from gods, which both makes them natives of Mount Olympus and explains Roger Waters' gargantuan ego, hence they fall into your category. :tongue3:

I'll do my normal thing and stick to metal (or metal affiliates/subsidiaries) for this one. I listen to too many bands to make a top 5, so I'll just list some I've been listening to lately.

Negligent Collateral Collapse - Czech Republic
Immortal - Norway
Waylander - Ireland
Cryptopsy - Canada
Skyforger - Latvia

If Texas counts as a different country, add Absu.

What are the best bands not from the US or England? Bob Marley & the Wailers, the best band ever. ~:)

Oh man, I can't believe you fronting me that roots reggae isn't rock and yet here you are dancing to ABBA!

Because the roots of raggae are not rock and roll as much as you would like us to believe, it does however have the same roots as rock and roll. That being R&B so the confusion is understandable. I never danced to ABBA but it was the first laser disc I ever bought. I hate disco with a passion. ABBA is definetly pop rock and probably the best pop rock band ever. There no raggae group , not even Marley who holds a candle to the British super groups. These guys are the gods of rock and roll.

Quietus, I'm with you.
I consider Blues, Rock and Reggae all the same, really. Some Jazz is also similar. Besides, it was "best band", not "best rock band". To me, Marley is far more rock than any sort of metal will ever be. Why? Because Rock is based on blues, which almost all Metal isn't.
edit: Oh, and real country and bluegrass, and folk, too is very similar to rock, in my mind.
Real country being not today's fake accent country.

Where is the blues in Metal? How many Metal bands have ever covered a blues song? How is any metal related to blues, or any other rock?
And I'm not talking about Black Sabbath, I'm talking the stuff that's around today.

System of a Down are Armenian, although they live in America.

I thought "bands" was used to mean musical group, even though they are clearly not bands of the literal sense. Thought I would never find another electronica fan here ~:)

No, they're all second-generation Americans. Their parents were Armenian. SOAD grew up in the Hollywood area.

Of course I don't. I shouldn't have said Metal, I meant Punk and Emo... Sorry, I can't tell the difference between a lot of harder styles of music... Though I would say that Metal core (whatever that means) isn't very bluesy...

Punk is. Well, real punk, anyway. Emo and metalcore, beyond both sucking horribly, are less blues-based, but metalcore does have its moments.

Sorry for confusing everyone. I really have trouble trying to figure out all the names for things, and I often (wrongly) lump in every loud thing that I don't like into Metal, which I know is wrong.
And some of the earlier Punk sort of is, but I don't think it is as much today.

That depends. There is still "real" punk being played these days, but you'll never see it on TV or hear it on any mainstream radio. 3-chord punk is the best example of today's blues-based music I can present, though.

ABBA is pop rock? ~ OK, I'll give you that, just please don't call Reggae R&B. You're thinking reggae means

"Bad boys bad boys whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?"

That's like saying Hootie & the Blowfish is the face of rock & roll.

There no raggae group , not even Marley who holds a candle to the British super groups. These guys are the gods of rock and roll. Those 'super groups' wouldn't even get close to Burning Spear (http://www.burningspear.net) (my 4th favorite) let alone Bob Marley & the Wailers. ~;)

Quietus, RnB is awesome. You're thinking of Rythym and Beat (fake RnB, today's RnB), while the RnB that Gawain is talking about (real RnB) is Rythym (or Riddim ~;) ) and Blues. This is essentially blues... So yeah, it is RnB based, just as Rock is.

I was thinking Gawain was comparing it to Dancehall Reggae (like Shaggy for example). Shaggy and the likes are godawful. ::ick::
