In MP there's a list of clans,of which you must choose one. That name appears right after your MP nickname.

I thought it would be very 'cool' ~ if people could change that list, and make up their own names.

members of 7bear7, aggony, 47ronin and so on could include their own clans name, for instance. Then they wouldn't have to use 2 clan names.

this would be very cool if someone knew where the file with those names is (a .ini file? I don't know much about PC's, but I think it's a .ini)

please :help:

that is in the changes.txt file in the loc folder

look for the heading
"New_Registration_Family_Names"

try changing one and let us know if it works

cheers

Thanks a lot, honourable barocca!

I now can choose my own clan, at least, if it works, I'll tell you later if it did.

Yeah! It works.

I now can have any name I want.

I hope other people will use this info too, it's quite fun!

Thanks again barocca, I am now using the name: '47Ronin Drisos' in MP mostly, while I couldn't before.

I am happy with this change, and hope others like this too.

Actual reason for post: want to draw attention to this thread again, maybe people haven't noticed yet.

***

- Go to your shogun folder.
- click loc
- click the folder with the language you use in shogun
- open 'changes.txt'

- in 'changes.txt' scroll down and look for the heading: "New_Registration_Family_Names"
- unfortunately, you cannot make the list longer, so only replace old names by your names
- the list is like this:

@ "Akechi"
@ "Nakamura"
@ "So"
@ "Ii"
@ "Toda"
@ "Shimazu"
@ "Hojo"
...

and so on. of course this is not the entire one, but you now get the concept.

do not remove: @ " "
only cut out text and type new name in it.

You can also type at least one space, so you can use a name which exists out of one word only.

Do not change this when in Shogun. First save the edited changes.txt over the old file and start shogun.

Hope it works, R'as.

I'm glad my attempt te get attention worked. ~:)

Enjoy! ~

Yes this is neat to know, thanks! Wish we'd known about it back when the clans were active--it would have made for a way to ID them without the need for prefixes or suffixes on the nickname. Then again, perhaps this wouldn't have worked on the official server ... .

Cool, Kojiro was not a choice in the original list, I had to go as SasakiKojiro So.

I had to go as SasakiKojiro So.

Yes, that's annoying. That's why I asked here for someone who knew how to change it.

Well, see you guys with your new names soon in the foyer. ~:)
