From the Rome: Total War main community page (http://www.totalwar.com/community/rome.htm):

ROME: TOTAL WAR NEW UNIT
We will occasionally be adding alternative versions for some of the models within the game. Please note that these addtional models are not supported and you add these at your own risk. Activision or the Creative Assembly take no responsibility for the consequences of adding these additional models. This weeks's is a alternative Peloponnesian-era Spartan Hoplite model (last updated 26 November 04).

Yikes, that idea didn't last very long did it.

I think that's the only one they ever released and all it does is change the skin.

Yeah a pity that they didn't stick with the idea, CA could take a few lessons from the way that Cavedog supported Total Annihilation. (the original game, not that abortion 'Kingdoms' game that sent the company under~D).

Variety is the spice of gaming as well as life.~D

the way that Cavedog supported Total Annihilation.
At one point I think I had around 150 extra units for that game and that's probably an underestimate.
Lots of them were Cavedog produced.

Aye, certainly added to the enjoyment of the game, marvellous support it was, not 'tech' support (though thatw as good too) but 'extras' added by the developer that made the game even better.

If I were going to cite a company for superb tech support it would be Paradox.
