Hello all; I have been instructed by Sulla of TWC to inform EB of latest events; the EB forum in TWC has been summarily deleted, but mods are working hard to retrieve files. The case has been investigated and a culprit has been found from checking the log files. An announcment will follow shortly, and I'll be sure to place a link in this thread.

RTR forum was also deleted. It happened as I was reading it, it was kinda scary to watch, posts disappearing one by one... like something out of Neverending Story.

Well at least now it went beyond the RTR vs EB dispute...
This is terrible news. Hopefully things will get fixed soon.

*GASP* THIS IS SABOTAGE! :hide:
Here is what i think they should do:
1:demote all mods/admins except sulla (as the accounts appear to be hacked)
2: back up every thing
3: find the IP address of the hacker
Who would do such a thing? perhaps CA is involved.....they never been on very good terms with TWC...

Whoa, it seems the crap really hit the fan on this one...
Hopefully it will all get sorted out.
I highly doubt CA's involvement, though. They have a bad enough rap as it is, and aren't stupid enough to pull this kind of stunt.

CA don't have the time to do such things- in theory anyway. ~;)
I reckon somebody was trying to cover up an argument which threatened to consume TWC's reputation...and so I'm glad that after requesting Sulla be granted emergency powers, he was gifted them by Spartan and now enjoys the status of being sole admin of TWC. Hail Sulla!

The Great Fire of Rome is repeating itself...
Uhh.. let's hope it's not that bad. ~D You know who set that fire, right? According to Tacitus, Roman soldiers were ordered by Nero Caesar to put 25% of the city to fire.. so Nero could get space for his new palace AND get to blame the christians for something. Nero played the part of victim.
Similarly, Hitler's own stormtroopers were ordered by Hitler to burn the Reichstag. Hitler then claimed that this was done by the jews and communists, and that he needed an expansion of power to stop these "terrorists"... this is an ongoing theme throughout human history.
History doesn't necessarily repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme.
- I'd wait till the facts are on the table, of course from more than 1 source.
maybe the this forum will now get more visitors...but seriously though, this is pathetic. maybe an 13 year old boy is now doing his evil-laughter act and grinnign like an idiot: "muwhahahaha i deleted lots of posts from people i dont now, on a site that i dotn care about, about a game of wich i think it sucks, im so good" really pathetic..

What we're looking at here is no act of a youngster. This was a carefully-constructed plot; the attacker struck the EB forum to play on suspicions that EB, in light of recent events, might be evacuating TWC...while the mods were distracted trying to verify this, the second big mod for RTW went down...and then the third. Whoever acted had a master plan, and knew their facts about the TW community.
And yeh, I compared this to the Reichstag too; and many people compared it to Star Wars after the grant of emergency powers! I now enjoy a reputation as Squealer-Binks, a combination of a character from Animal Farm, and everyone's (not-so) favourite Gungan! ~D

Nero was innocent. It has been demonstrated that the fire started accidentally in a market near the Circus Maximus. Nero was in Ostia. He got back Rome and tried hopelessly to stop the fire, but he couldn't avoid that even some of his properties -full of valuable art works, Nero weakness- were burn. He opened his palace to assist the wounded, and many refugees settled in his property. Only when those rumors that pointed at him -possibly initiated by any of his many enemies- started to be alarming, he looked for a propiciatory victim, and those weird unpopular Christians, with their mysterious rites about eating meat and blood of their god, were ideal for the task.
your talking like nero was a good lad and was just misunderstood. the usage of jews as torches was just a practical joke probably...:P

You see, Nero was a SOB. He murdered his father, his mother, his brother, his wives... He repressed the Christians, and any other his paranoid mind pointed as a suspicion. Seneca -who also was a SOB- and Petronius -who was a SNOB ~;p - payed high for betraying him. And, of course, he cheated in all the contests he took part. But...
he didn't order the fire of Rome.
On the other way, the usage of people as torches was common on the day, and, if you think well, I know many who would find his true vocation in that job, IMO. ~;p

yeha, i was being sarcastic. i saw a good docu on nero called :"the most evil man ever" or something of the same friendly nature. that docu also thought Nero did it. but i'm no expert. and your evidence seems to prove your point.

I'm pretty sure Mao, Stalin and Hitler beat him.

Well, to be fair, Cesare Borgia (sp?) is the original archetype of evil. I vote him.
the last book of the bible (armageddon and shit) was written in Nero's time i believe. it had a funny reference wich practically said nero was the devil...not a strong point. but nero definatly isn't my favorite superhero

Nah, a poor devil, smart and cunning, but tangled in his own intrigues, and overwhelmed by the incredible complexity of the Italian politics of his time. His father sure was more evil than him. And Lucretia, his sister, was a victim of her surname. Nor only didn't she poison anyone, but was used as an exchange item, had to deal with terrible tragedies in her life, and still she was a good woman -and an efficient administrator: her subjects were really happy about her.
To find a real evil man, read the memories of Benvenuto Cellini, the renaissance artist. Man, he was a psycho: not only spent his life killing, napping, raping and abusing people, but he did it impunily -because of his fame- and even boasted about it in his memories in a way I find... repugnant. ~

I always thought Caligula was worse than Nero... but please correct me if I'm wrong.

That depends on the source we use. In general public's opinion, Caligula was probably worse. In reality, though, who knows? He had his bright moments, and some say he wasn't all that bad as Suetonius shows him. For that matter, neither was Nero. Remember that Suetonius despised the whole imperial family, and his chronicles can be read as today's tabloid press, full of gossips and misconceptions. Remember that both Nero and Caligula were for a lot of their reign regarded by Roman people as quite good rulers.

Machiavelli would have just picked Cesare's father if that was the case, I think.
Was Cellini the one who died shortly before leaving to seize a ship because he had left his belongings on it by accident?

Wow, what happened at TWC is quite disturbing. And the fact they had to introduce emergency powers too...
