Has anyone else ever found this guy. Once when i was playing as the Selucids a generel for my faction just apeared there. By there i mean Italy normaly near the coast but there is no boats ever near there. he is allways on his own and never with any troops And wilst playing the Romans 4 times i have seen him. In this campaign it turned out to be the factions leader. There is no explanation for how he gets there he just appears. Anyone else found this. It really is odd....................

no I have never ever seen him there , sounds very weird that a general just appears at the other side of the map...
:balloon2:
I remember seeing him once.
No idea what he was doing near Rome , he was just wandering there.

I once saw a family member of some Hellenistic faction near Arretium in my Julii campaign, can't remember which one though. He did also appear out of the blue like that. I simply bribed him, I always believed he had snuck in somehow to spy.
What I have seen a few times is the AI dropping its faction heir at some overseas place (but never at such a great distance as this case).
Thus for instance the Pontic faction heir sitting near Byzantium while I was picking his future kingdom apart, and Ambiorix, the British prince who has landed on the shores of Belgica and never moved since. Consequently, he has been my diplomatic liaison with the British for many years now. Never bothered to chase him off my land.
I think it`s a bug.
It happened to me once, that a general suddenly appeared outside Rome.
My capital was besieged and that was where he was supposed to show up.
So I think instead of ending up in the capital, he ended up outside Rome.
But this was with ver 1.0.

Perhaps he settled down with a wife and kids, in a small village in a remote forest.

i never seen him
I've seen random generals around Rome. I think there are subtle bugs relating to where generals will default to being placed around Rome if their designated creation location is out of wack. I remember this from 1.0 but I think 1.2 fixed it.

The Ghost of Seleucos. How cool.
Perhaps he's telling the Romans memento mori. (Remember to die.)

I think that's the AI's idea of 'amphibious attacks'. I've had Scipii family members land -alone- at Messana after I conquered it as Greeks, only to have them sit around and get wiped out free-frag style by my generals while charging at an archer unit that they never reached. And, of course, the Pontic generals. I just get ending turn to see how long he would wait in front of Byzantium without doing anything, it turns out he waited 9 turns before finally besieging Byzantium, even with a full stack there. AI. *shrug*

I'm doing my first Rome campaign, but I haven't seen that yet.
When I played Sarmathia (Scythia), I took all Greek and Macedonian lands. The Pontic faction heir landed by Byzantium, and stayed there for decades. He eventually became faction leader, and soon after, he died, and his men dispersed. Seems the idiot Pontic heir is common.

Yup, I saw him in my latest Seleucid game. He was a general that I used taking the Macedonian Islands with and suddenly he took flight 747 to Rome. I was quite baffled to say the least.

That same thing has happened to me during my first rtw 1.2 Greek campaign. In my case I was asked if I accept to adopt a family member throughout marriage. So I did accept him and he appeared near Rome.
Numidia does it- sends it leader to Rome!
