Kurando-sama, our esteemed "former" master, pointed this article out to me. Domô arigatô gozaimas, Kurando, it's very interesting. As he doesn't seem to have posted it here yet, I'll do it, but the credit for this one belongs to him.
The article, originally by Strategy Plus, is apparently based on an enchanced version of the original press release (http://www.totalwar.com/community/mongolpr.htm): most of it is old info, and the screenshots have been seen previously, too, but there are some new tidbits. I'd like to especially highlight a new characteristic for the troops (Discipline, probably somehow connected to the bribery option), the chance to select what troops you will use on the field and who will act as reinforcements, a starting province editor...
Aww, what the... Go and read it yourselves! (http://www.cdmag.com/Home/home.html?article=/articles/031/114/shoguntota-01a.html)

"Kullervo, Kalervo's offspring, / With the very bluest stockings, / On the ground the haft set firmly, / On the heath the hilt pressed tightly, / Turned the point against his bosom, / And upon the point he threw him, / Thus he found the death he sought for, / Cast himself into destruction."

If they have added an new unit attribute (discipline) which is used during battle (not only for the bribery), that mean that the battle engine is changed. Maybe the monk and nodachi will have poor discipline and won't always obey to the orders? Maybe they would charge by themself? Or they won't stop to chase an rooting unit so they would be less controlable?
" with complete control of when and where reinforcements are deployed." is a very good news.
But i can't see the difference between "endurance" (new attribut) and "fatigue" (which is already managed by the game). Someone has an idea?

As a guess, "endurance" would be how long a unit will last before "fatigue" sets in.

I hope that the new multiplay optioons will be quite good. Will there be any mods created for multiplay?

I'll bet that they keep "Fatigue" as how tired you are, and "Endurance" is how quickly you become tired, and how long it takes to catch your breath. So a High Endurance naginata unit will still get winded when running up hill, but will recover more quickly. And a high-endurance ashigaru unit will be able to just keep on running, maybe even out distancing a LOW endurance cavalry? How does THAT sound?

Hmm, sounds like good news. I read this article yesterday and posted it at my site (http://www.planettotalwar.com), but neglected to come by here and say anything about it. I am not understanding why it seems that there's a new detail or 2 in each new preview. Hmmm http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif
This looks like a great new set of features that will add even more depth and strategy to this game. This is what cracks me up and makes me a little bit more hopeful:
"They have streamlined the camera manager and the battlefield controls to make them even more intuitive, and they promise better pathfinding and tactical AI—as well as "no obvious cheating" for the AI. Leaders should be harder to kill in battle because of better Daimyo AI."

Sounds like they have really overhauled the whole game! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/cool.gif
I can't wait for the damn thing, not another 2-3 months! Gerr.... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/mad.gif

I can't find this piece of info anywhere...
When you get the mission pack, will you have to start the game over again, as a Daimyo?
Or if you won, do you start as Shogun... or how does that work?

Mongol Invasion is NOT a "mission pack" like the C&C and Total Annihilation expansions. Shôgun: Total War has no missions: how could it have a mission pack?!
Read the various press releases and posts around this area (a good starting point is the first official press release (http://www.totalwar.com/community/mongolpr.htm)). The expansion is not a continuation of the original campaign: it adds new features and new campaigns.

"Never, youths, however wretched, / Nor in future, upgrown heroes, / Whether you have large possessions, / Or are poor in your possessions, / In the course of your lifetime, / While the golden moon is shining, / May you woo a golden woman, / Or distress yourselves for silver, /For the gleam of gold is freezing, / Only frost is breathed by silver."
