Just wanted to say hello as I registered on here this morning.

I've had my eye on MTW for ages but my computer was up the spout, but now its fixed and I bought the combo MTW/VI expansion pack and damn glad I am too.

Wow what a game, obviously im in my honeymoon period with it fantastic. Im only on game 1, easy, early, English but suddenly im going to bed at 1:30 am and my wifes claiming shes widowed by the computer again. :furious3:

Anyway i've been reading the forums and picked up loads of tips which i blatently havent put in to practise yet as so far overwhealming Archer and spear based armies have let me wipe the French off the map, the aragonese (?) Scots, Welsh and take navarre. I've been excommunicated, the pope raised a crusade against me but my king died 2 years later without any site of this fearful army. I've just bashed the HRE for 3 provinces but no warning from the pope (why?) and now im just merrily constructing better buildings to allow better troops etc.

I do have 2 questiosn though. :help:

Is easy too easy, or should I stick with it for my 1st go?

My 2nd king is one of those prefers boys to women Kings, will he produce heirs or will one of his 4 brother inherit instead llong term?

What buildings do I need to build to get assasins as I want to change my King and if that takes awhile, aside from sending him off on a suicide mission, what steps can i take to change my king?

Thanks in advance for the feedback

Welcome to the Org Darkrising ~

You'll find loads of good stuff in the MTW Guides, esp. Frogbeasteggs beginners guide.

I started on Medium (?) and that was tough when I began... but good practice. I think I'd have got wiped out early on otherwise. Just move on when you get bored.

Never had that problem... or didn't notice it! I don't mean personally either; I am talking about the game.

I think it is a Tavern or a Brothel.

Sending him on suicide missions is the best plan... he may even win a lot of territory for you.
PS: did you know that Royal Knights automatically regenerate their losses after a while?

Welcome to the .ORG Darkrising. ~:)

Archers and Spears are excellent choices. You need to add the fast British light horse ( ah, the name is at the tip of my tongue...) to chase the routers. Two is enough.

Easy is easy. Medium would have been better for the first try. I've never had any instance of kings not reproducing. Most likely, it won't matter at all since lots of the traits only add/deduct to your Dread, Loyalty etc.

I've had a 16 year old heir who's supposedly incestous with his daughter.

You don't need to change your king at all unless you don't build anything (which is a terrible strategy; you need to continually build). Just sit back your king and let your heirs do the dirty work in the battlefield. Your province simply need a contiguously direct contact with your King or if there is break then those separated regions will get a loyalty penalty hit and they will likely rebel.

Just don't move your King and have ships to control all the sea lanes so your overseas holdings will have a direct link to the king and won't rebel (you need a chain of ships).

Lastly, it is brothel for the assassins. ~:)

Welcome to the Org Dark :balloon2:

Spears and Archers are OK for easy, which gives you a morale bonus, but that will disappear when you try medium or hard.

With English you can upgrade to Billmen and Longbowmen once the High Period starts, and by then you should also have access to Feudal Men-at-Arms. Add some Feudal Knights for flanking and as anti-cav, and you'll quickly get to the 60% victory point.

I would take an Easy game past the 60% mark, but . . .

If you're gonna stick with Spears (which have low morale) then build morale upgrade building (church/cathedral and higher level spearmakers)

Read the guides, especially the Economics 101 in the forum. Use the battle quicksave before interesting battles and fight them in different manners. If you have trouble with specific units fight a custom battle using that unit against specific opponents until you figure out how to use it. There are also threads on how to use Horse archers and other units.
