View Full Version : Questions about RTR
For those of you who have played the latest RTR, could I ask a few questions?
1. For the single available roman faction, what is their family name?
2. For the roman faction, what temples can it build?
3. Does it have gladiators, decere?
4. In RTR, are the generals really powered down, since they don't have cavalry bodyguards anymore?
5. Are there fewer types of units you can build now, (i.e. they seemed to have got rid of praetorian and urban cohorts, arcani, etc.) but more types of mercs available?
6. Since they have added many more provinces, have they redesigned the campaign resource map, so that some of the new provinces have natural resources as well (like wheat, iron, silk, etc)
7. Can you get Caesar now, since this is supposed to be as close to history as possible? Hannibal?
8. Some faction icons are so ugly (greeks), what is up with that?
9. Can you still build pantheons?
thanks a lot

I'll try to answer your questions
1) They don't really have a family name as in Vanilla, the ar e just ''The Romans .
2) You can Built Saturnus, Jupiter , Neptune ,Mars and Ceres.
3) no gladiators and I havce never Built decers in the game ( in vanilla and RTR ) so I wouldn't know if you can build them, I do think so actually since it requires a awsome temple of Neptune ( I think ) which you can build .
4) no they aren't powered down, not every general travels by foot , only the Roman and the Dcian and greek generals have I seen on foot , they are definatley not underpowerd ( is that a word ? ) less mobile yes , but that isn't really a problem since it is compensated by high attack stats.
5 ) they have only removed the fantasy units such as arcanii , but they have included lot's of units too , just as they have reskinned a lot of units.
6) Wouldn't know a lot about this, I do know that you nowe need timber to build ships ( or is that 6.0.... ) and I recall that you need stone for walls....
Not certain about this maybe someone else does .
7) you can get a gaius Julius and probably a Hannibal Barca.. but don't think that you will be able to use Ceasar in say 50 BC..
8 ) never bothered me. ~;)
9 ) yes
Haven't played RTR n a while , so someone else should fill in or correct me if I said some wrong things ~:)
Hoped this helped though.
thanks for the reply. I have another question, have they remade the map? ie. new rivers mountains, etc and new or different resources (iron, etc) or is that hardcoded?

the only thing I know about the map is that they expanded it towards the east.
So they definatley have made new rivers and mountains in those areas, and I would say that they have given them the appropriate resorces.
Otherwise they wouldn't be worth taking when the only profit you can gain is by taxing them till they revolt .

they can build slingers and archer auxilia.
where are you getting all your information? i think you should just try the game and find out.
if you find campaign easy in vanilla try RTR, its much better.

The map is also expanded to the north so Scotland and southern part of Scandinavia is included, added 30-40 new provinces in the original part of the map. RTR v6.0 is due any week now.
