ok i have installed RTW on my laptop, i can only find the v1.2 patch, were there any other patches before that? if there are can someone give me a link to them, b/c like i said i can only find the v1.2 patch. thank you for your help

yup. it's the latest but note the notorius save-game bug and the HA bug

ok i downloaded it and tried to install it, but when i went to open the file, it said error in reading setup initialization, does anyone know why this happened and how to fix it, what i did was i saved it to a cd so i could put it on my laptop which is not hooked up to the internet. also,, what are the save game bug and HA bug? does the save game bug mean i cant save the game? also, what does the patch actually do? does it really change that much in the game or does it just fix the bugs that the original game had, so it runs smoother?

The patch fixes problems in the original game.

The error message is probably a product of a corrupted download, i think.

The HA bug causes horse archers to not shoot while running.

The save game bug causes the AI to lift sieges when a save game is loaded.

is there a way to fix those bugs? or do we have to wait until another patch comes out?. also, my game is running slow on my laptop, its bearbale, i mean i still play it, but like the mouse cursor is slow and it takes a few extra minutes to load battles,,, also,, on the main menu,, the "Rome: Total War" logo doesnt show uo and neither do the little buttons that move u to the next screen or back to a previous one, there are just white boxes where they should be, but i can still click on them and they function fine, has this happened to anyone?

i had sort of similar problems but after i got a better video card it runs smoothly and there is an incredible change in quality

btw in a battle about the buttons on the right side is there a bunch of diagonal lines over that area and the bottons dont show clearly?

no the buttons on the battle screen come in perfectly fine, its just like the main menu and campaign setup menus and thsoe types of screens,, i have also noticed that sometimes the game loads,, the screen is amazingly clear (the screen that comes up while the game loads for a campaign or battle) and sometimes is comes in a tad fuzzy. so i dunno, remember thisis on my laptop, so i dont think i can really change my video card, if im not mistaken.

The save game bug is present in all versions of the game.

The horse archer bug is fixable, I belive it is Player1 who released a bug fixer for it (among other bugs).

yea, go download player1's, unoffical bug fixer. I think hes up to version 1.4.

it fixes the HA bug and several others.
