Well, I HIGHLY doubt they will make a MTW2 in the near future, but nonetheless, I would probably just want it to be EXACTLY like MTW, perhaps with a few changes and new graphics.

I would like it to be 2D but higher quality. NO 3D!!! It looks fake!

I think the combat should be more realistic and there should be a wider range of orders. I know programming is tedious and problematic, but....

I heard somewhere in this forum recently that there is a patch which removes the charge bonus when you charge into an enemy unit by double clicking behind it from the perspective of your selected unit. Why??? This doesn't have any basis in reality, in reality they wouldn't point their lances in the air if they were running towards the enemy ater marching for weeks and coming face to face with a hated enemy in a battle they expect to die in and have trained all their lives for. It doesn't make sense. I don't care about some glitch which allows a unit to ride down a few ranks of peasants, or whatever. Javelin men also take several seconds to throw their javelins after being orderred to, when in reality they'd be throwing them the moment they saw an enemy within range. Also archers in forests wouldn't stay information, they'd take cover. In sieges the occupants would eat their horses if they had to stay in siege for years and also would man the walls and go inside buildings if the enemy breached the gates. I also noticed in the rome total war forum that they were complaining about a few unrealistic things aswell. No more unrealisticness. It doesn't have to be perfect, just a proper improvement on medieval total war 1.

New orders could be to get rear ranks to spread out across an enemy line, thus flanking small and seperated units. Also for units to merge into a wall and for most of the units to have some sort of javelin or other projectiles which they fire off randomly instead of in mas volleys, just like they would have done in real life.

1. A much better alliance system, and a general upgrade when dealing with other factions. If I marry my princess off to another nation they shouldn`t be attacking me the next turn. Each faction should have at least one strong ally that sticks with them throughout the game. You should also be able to ask an ally to go to war with you against another faction, it was very rare that nations went to war alone and the game should reflect that. There should also be a way to end an alliance without going to war with anyone.

2. More castle battles would be great. Unless I attack a castle, castle battles almost never happen. What is the point of building a castle with great defenses if I never get to use them?

3. I`ve heard it got taken care of in RTW, but the use of ships should be improved. I like the idea of actually putting armies into the ships and having them take time to reach the place they are invading.

4. End the sneak attacks- why is it that why I invade a faction, the faction is able to move in support troops from other areas before the next turn while I am not? The game should allow the user to move in troop from other areas just like the AI does.

5. A mob, or surround the enemy button would be great. I hate having to grab individual units and try to surround the army I`m fighting. Its hard enough trying to fight a battle from the front, must less trying to circle the enemy at the same time.

Just my $0.2

I agree with suggestions 1, 2 and 3. But I think that letting the AI react to you provides a little more challenge and a little more spice to the game and I would NOT want that changed. By the same token, I like that I have to control my armies in battle. If I want to flank I had better set my units up correctly. I want battles tougher not dumbed down. Which leads me to my suggestion.

Have a difficulty level that actually is difficult and do it by having an AI that is tough. This is obviously the place that games need to improve the most. We are starting to see FPS games with pretty smart enemies, it is also time to see the same thing happen in the strategy sector. Rome's graphics are plenty good enough for now, so the next game should just concentrate on a great AI.

I'd like the battle system to be like that in RTW, with charges from the rear having a really devastating effect. Speeches would be cool too. And I think towns should exist as well as castles, so that when someone invades and you decide to retreat to the stronghold, your facilities aren't always destroyed. After a few turns then your soldiers retreat to the castle when they can hold the town no longer.

The same King Henry....

I would definitely like to have fortress-cities... And also, to some historically known cities, to have more than a layer of walls(best example, Constantinople, the capital of my fav Medieval empire ~D )

Also, improve trade by adding to building roads....(not that I'm complaining very much about trading... In Constantinople I have 7000 florins per turn, 5000 from trading ~D ) Add new trade goods also....

Add new units like Kilibanophori(spelled correctly?) and Condottieri Cavalry....

Add new buildings: Roads, Academies, new palaces....(also, a forum)

Improve Diplomacy and AI(must improve this!!!) Remove the bloat effect because this is a very annoying bug!!!!

Cheers!

I find it truly involving browsing through this forum. Especially that I haven't even looked at the bloody game for something like two or three weeks.

With all due respect to all involved, however, I just see no point in posting above comments other than just relieving frustration.

As far as I can remember at least once on this forum I've posted my opinion on how I would like MTW2 to look like and perform and what features I would love it to have etc. Amount of ideas I've read from all gamers that post on this forum is seriously big too. Let's not repeat ourselves any more, please. That's what makes this forum mundane at times.

This is the umpteenth thread about MTW2. Please, please, no more. Please.

Full respect to everyone tho.

in-game feature where everyone can customize their own special medieval units. Though it is not relevent to the time period, it can be a seperate campaigne between "historical campaign" and "custom campaign"

one desprately needed feature, that was in mtw, and is not in RTW, that would be needed in MTW", is the dismount feature.

What I would like to change. Like the game Counter Strike, you can have realism as well as little changes that would make the game better. Or at least give an option.

Sure, I would love a totally realistic game but why the Danes/Poles can't buide crusades is beyond me. I mean, sure, in real life then weren't built but who says that I as a general - dictator - king - demigod - wouldn't build one.

Second, The Heir has returned crap has to be dropped completely or at leasted nuttered to be at least resonable. If I was taking over an area, my troops "IN REALITY" would hear about a mass rebellion and kill it at the source before it strikes. I guess because of religious matters, a Pope would always come back but how many Russian Princes would you have to eliminate before you would go on a nation wide hunt and take them ALL OUT.

Options on starting money/buildings via a menu option or map clicking, not modding.

MULTIPLAYER CAMPAIGN MODE. EVEN IF THEY ARE LAZY IN PROGRAMMING AND YOU CAN ONLY PLAY ON ONE COMPUTER AND YOU HAVE TO AUTO CALCULATE BATTLES BETWEEN TWO HUMAN PLAYERS INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY COMMANDING YOUR UNITS. MULTIPLAYER CAMPAIGN MODE IS A MUST!!!!!

Oh, I agree what that dude says about the CPU AI and all else that he says.

GOD HAS SPOKEN.

Also, the cheap little tricks toward the endgame is just completely gay and lacking any future faith toward Activision.

The mass rebellions HAVE TO GO. LET ME DO THIS IN ALL CAPS SO THAT ACTIVISION PROGRAMMERS WITH CATERAX IN THEIR EYES CAN READ THIS. MASS REBELLIONS ARE VERY F-ING STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON"T DO THEM!!!!

EVER!!!!

And actual ending after the game would be sweet too. No more old man talking (Cool sounding voice though) while looking at the picture. You had an awesome beginning movie, you have the technology.

Some other ideas

Ship battles = awesome.

DDay type of invasions toward Castle Fortifiations on beaches, freaking sweet

More than 12 unit brigades or multiple cannons per unit so cannons are more of a use than before. No way does a cannon equal a group of anything, even peasants but with more cannons per unit count would be a true use of artillery like Napoleon's wet dream come true.

I HAVE A FIREWALL WITHOUT MY CONSENT BECAUSE I HAVE DSL THROUGH QWEST AND I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO HOST A GAME. FIX THIS NOW!!!!

Well, I probably got more ideas but I need to go back to getting out noobed on CS

AND, it all has to run on my Intel 286 in CGA mode.

Also, what I really really would like is

A Draft

We have had military drafts for as long as their has been armies. Are you trying to tell me that if you are invading my British Isles and I have nothing left to defend, that I couldn't mass recruit an army to strike back. (Even if there just peasants or weaker types of the units we all love and limits to what you can draft and how much. Even if you Florins per Provence drops because of lack of farmers and traders. THIS WOULD BE FREAKING SWEET!!!!! :charge: :duel: :medievalcheers:
