I read from many online sources such as myarmory.com etc that the typical gladius has a length of about half a meter or 20 inches, this makes me wonder, because in the game, the swords equipped by the romans and greeks are much shorter than this, what do you all think?

Yep it's short. We need a Gladius Enlarger.

I believe a few major mods do this, and I imagine there are a few models out there that fix this.

do we know if the RTR 6.0 changes this?

Yeah, the gladius held by the roman soldier legionary look really weird and that it don't look really good at all. :furious3:

I always thought the Gladius looked a bit small.

I'm sure the legionaries would say that it's how you use it that matters. ~;)

RTR 6.0 will feature much longer gladii, as EB doubtless will. SPQR, I believe, already incorporates them, although whether they're actually the 24-7 they should be for pre-Marian troops I have no idea.

Just for information, bear in mind that that's the blade length only. Full length would be 30"+, with the Hispaniensis blades being in the region Sim gives (and the Mainz being in the region you give).

Yes, there's long been a popular myth that the Roman gladius was quite short, which seems to have been incorporated into the game. Recent evidence suggests the gladius was much longer than has hereto been believed, it was apparently at least 27 inches long which is about as long as the distance from the hand to the shoulder.
