It would be really cool if a modder included the option to found new cities on the campaign map while you are already playing. For instance you could play as a Roman faction and found new cities while you are extending the territories under your dominion!.

Do you think this is possible to make? ~:) :help:

Nope, the game engine uses the concept of a single settlement per province. If you wanted to add more settlement you'd either have to break that completely or you'd have to add new provinces _during_ the game - both of which are not at all possible.

Perhaps, one possible procedure to simulate this would be to leave empty (no units, no buildings) some settlements in descr_strat. In this way you can conquer the settlement with no defense and you must start the construction from the beginning. But, of course, the situation of this new settlement must be fixed in map_regions.tga.

The rebels (AI) wouldn’t develop the city?

Yes, they would. If a settlement isn't included in the text files it is automatically a rebel settlement at the start of the game.

There is a year_founded filed in descr_strat.txt, but sadly it does not appear to have any effect on the game...

In export_buildings.txt it says:
{settlement_upgrade_fort} UPGRADE FORT
{settlement_upgrade_fort_desc} UPGRADE FORT TO A VILLAGE
{settlement_upgrade_fort_desc_short} UPGRADE FORT TO A VILLAGE
I don't know if this can be used in the game somehow.
